What the fuck was Daring Doubt.
 
It’s like the writer saw the Daring Do “Arc” as a whole and figured that since it’s so full of holes, the only way to end it was to do so as expeditiously as possible. “There, I did what everyone should’ve done a while back and solved the entire thing instantly, go me!”.
 
I imagine there’s a lot of episode transcripts that would’ve been absolutely destroyed had they been unofficially published on FimFiction before their airing, but this one in particular would’ve had it’s comment section drowned by one word:

By the looks of things, we’re in for one or two volumes of the Manga, the IDW comics assuming they don’t stop at 83 (which is a lame finale BTW), and maybe some throwback t-shirts. But that’s about it, I think…

Between it and Student Counsel I feel the staff managed to make Starlight work. Finally.
 
Didn’t like that call back to my pick for worst episode in the show, that atrocity was better off left as a bad memory along with what little else Yaks have “added” to the lore, but ah well. It’s the only “negative” I’ve had about an episode that was smarter and more in-depth than it could’ve been given the synopsis, which is quite a shame seeing as it stands pretty much alone on that regard when compared to other recent ones.

Well, that’s not a good start :/.
 
They wanted to make it absolute that it was the end, but… I mean, ain’t it a new beginning for Equestria? “The End of the Beginning” would’ve made MUCH more sense, but apparently it gave the impression that “there’d be more”.
 
It’s like they think the entire setting will come to an end and will be forever kept in stasis the moment the credits roll. No, that’s why you establish that the world doesn’t revolve around what the viewer is shown only.
 
The “Golden Ending” scenario is now almost inevitable.

If Season 9 was originally 13 episodes, my guesses for those 13 episodes were the first four, the last four, Frenemies, The Summer Sun Setback, Between Dark and Dawn (likely to set up the day/night device Twilight broke, which is seen in the finale trailer), A Horse Shoe-in, and The Last Crusade, and the others were added at the request of Hasbro since there were barely any Mane 6 episodes. All but Student Counsel, Growing Up is Hard to Do, and 2, 4, 6, Greaaat were VA bucket list episodes, and the latter was the last episode written, and in one draft (and it shows). Of course, I am only wildly guessing here, so take it with the entire Cheetham Salt Company rather than just a grain.
