Season 9 Discussion Thread [Warning: SPOILERS!!!!!]

I just figure that everyone in this thread lives in the worst timeline, cause none of us are ever fucking happy.

Well, at least the first two we got spoiled earlier sounds like the worst of the bunch…. nothing that’s going to be groundbreaking in terms of first impressions.

Now I’ve got nothing against Lofty nor Holiday.
 
However, I do feel like their existence in the series is primarily for the sake of plot convenience.  
Scootaloo’s stay in Ponyville literally hinged on those two being there.  
Now this got me wondering how the episode and premise would have went had they say… We’re unable, didn’t exist, or simply refused to be Scoot’s guardian? Scoot would certainly have been forced to leave with her parents regardless. That would have been the bittersweet “bad end”.

I mean, even if they didn’t exist, it seems like literally everyone else in Ponyville is part-time Scootaloo guardian.

But you can’t deny that the Aunts were the major sway in Scoot’s parent’s decision to let her continue living in Ponyville.  
Scoots would have had to concede had it been under any other circumstances.

They at least needed someone in the family to look over Scootaloo. The fact that they at least try to look after Scootaloo already make them better parents than her actual parents.
 
It seems like their biggest problem was that the writers waited until the very last minute to introduce them. The parents actually have an explained absence and it’s honestly really shitty, just about everyone are better parents to Scootaloo than they are, Lofty and Holiday, RD’s parents, heck, RD herself

If you had to guess, are we gonna get another villain-centric episode before the finale, or have a finale longer than two parts?
 
My speculation for the finale is we might get Daybreaker to appear in it, have that one vision in the premiere become a nightmare made real. It is possibly called the “Bewitching Bell” for a reason.

And also, because having Scootaloo being left alone in the house for years on end would make her parents look horrendously neglectful.

Actually, I could see an episode with Maud introducing Mudbriar to her parents, which could later be turned into a Limestone/Marble episode. What do you think?  
The last time we saw Pie Family was (besides that short dumb scene in the Best Gift Ever) back in HeartBreakers in season 5.

After he admitted hating “Perfect Pear” and “The Break Up Break Down”, I must admit giving up trying to work out what AWGear considers a ‘bad episode’.

One friendship lesson I’m surprised MLP:FiM hasn’t taught yet is that sometimes friends don’t wanna hang out with you and they want to be either alone or be with others.

I never said I hate “Perfect Pear”. I always mentoin tough how enjoyable this episode was, so that I can rewatch him multiple times. Tough I always note that its a very “lazy” and unoriginal kind of episode, which only made things worse for “Apple Familt Timeline”. The writting in episode is pretty stellar, if not for the character. Pear Butter is a complete Marry Sue, as she has no negative character traits, and Bright Mac is just not very interesting.
 
The reason why I hate “The Break Up Break Down” is rather similar. It’s generic and boring, with only Spike and Discord saving it from being a trainwreck. SugarMac never really made sense as a relationship, because of how boring Sugar Belle is. She has no “personality” of her own, just the generic traits of a typical background pony. You could argue that, it’s supposed to show that “not everyone in the world is exceptional”, but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s just as boring to watch. As much as I disliked Mudbriar at first, I have to admit that “Some personality” is better then “no personality”.
 
“Best Gift Ever” had a potential to be extreamly great, but that one scene (which everyone should know what I am talking about) killed the “jolly Christmas” mood. It ruined my first watching of the episode, as even when great things were happening (Pistachio was fantastic and his whole scene was a lovely thing to see) I still had that once, few second fragment in the back of my head. It’s one of the best examples on how to ruin an otherwise good story/episode with one, absolutely not needed scene.
