Well, something that lasted a lot from Transformers was the IDW comics. It lasted more than 10 years.

Goof off and do what they want cause for the past 9 years, they’ve been showing to work just so they can do the entire series. Everyone are actors and the situations were all scripted and filmed.

I like to think this show is an in-universe documentary of sorts. The Mane 6 existed in Equestria’s past, and the show is sort of like a cross between history lesson and friendship education via historical figures. So, they did live normal lives outside the events of the episodes, but the actors portraying them in the documentary go home everyday to their lives.

That becomes needlessly layered once you get into any of the several episodes where the characters play other historical characters in turn.

But the show would be about their lives and notable things they did, so of course it’d get layered a lot. For what it’s worth, the documentary idea is an “if I had to choose” answer. It’s really a story being told, somehow, in real-ish time. The details don’t matter.

Thats mostly the reality behind cameras, which is why it is parodied so much in tv.

They really shouldn’t have been in this series. At least, not THIS late. Introducing a bunch of characters right before the show ends is a recipe for disaster.

Like EotD said, the Student 6 have been so undeveloped, and with how many characters DHX writes for, plus the demands to develop the princesses (despite the fact that they AREN’T main characters) and others, it’s just way TOO much. The show would do good to stick to the Mane 6, Spike, and maybe Starlight for the final season.

Uh I thought the IDW comics were meant to do that job in develop other characters.

Pretty much half and half. Stories about Mane 6, and stories about random characters. It’s what Friends Forever was about.
 
But now the show is trying to squeeze in everything to please the bronies, and it’s NOT working.

the student 6 are definitely not underdeveloped.

I wouldn’t say they’re underdeveloped as much as they are, say, relatively static.
