Well I’ll settle for the School Raze ones that were reused in the last montage - they seem to fit well. As for Uprooted - the Tree was dying at the time, so a little confusion is understandable.

I’m hoping for explanation in the comics on how Spike is connected to the Tree tho - the throne, the role in the rainbow blast. I’m sure there’s more of a simplified answer, but he just deserves a bigger story!

Because of his bond to Twilight, obviously. His throne was basically an offshoot of hers. (His wearing Rainbow’s Element that one time might have had something to do with it, but it didn’t seem to respond do maybe not.)

I’d talk about my headcanon towards a reasoning for that, but then it would be a tl;dr! :P
I’ll keep it simple: before the Pillars disappeared, Starswirl got Scorpan to look after growth process of whatever seed they planted, and he had Spike’s egg at the time still, and the friendship between the two is what caused the seed to grow into the Tree! The Tree gifted Scorpan with the Staff of Sacanas, Scorpan left the egg with the princesses in hopes to give it a better life, and off he went to wherever.

An OK episode. Trixie screws everything up again as usual, except this time it wasn’t actually a screwup until she double screw up’d it. It seems to me like the writers know nobody likes Mudbriar, as he’s bullied a bit this episode.

it was an ok episode that serves to look back on every previous CMC episode but the overall story is a little bit predictable
good to get a quick little “oh yeah the mailpony beefed it” joke

S09E13: Between Dark and Dawn
It’s mom trying to be cool except mom is the Princesses.
I think somebody put something in their pancakes this morning. The first part of the episode is so completely bizarre. I might expect Luna to do things like that by herself, but both of them together? Someone got into the sugarcubes.
I would have liked this episode a lot if Windows did not decide to start doing the lag thing that makes my sound staticy and awful. Fuck you Windows, this was adorable.
The song was OK.
Highlights:

- The entire reason Tia & Luna are acting like this is to get out of their swan-based obligations.
- Galarian Luna (and Punk Celestia)
- Cute Luna & Celestia drawn on the parachute
- Tia & Luna deadpanning at Twilight’s treatment of the sun & moon before casually flying back to help her out
Mileage may vary: - The Princesses have a song together. It’s not bad, but it’s not really all that good either.
Lows: - Everything on Twilight’s end of the story is undersold and kind of boring.
- Both princesses are (intentionally) “out of character” and, partially because of this, have really off voices. Celestia has precedent dating back to S1, but it’s creepy seeing it from Luna.
Personal biases: - I approve of Celestia’s apparent bird phobia. In my AU there is a whole story behind this and why she isn’t afraid of Philomena.*
- I approve of Luna’s value of infrastructure, but not how openly giddy she gets about the post office.
- I don’t really like that Luna seems so cowardly during Celestia’s various activities.
- Celestia had bad experiences with geese and swans at a fairly young age. Luna is usually good with animals and would torment her with geese especially, leading them to use the term “stroking the goose” to refer to boasting or one-upping each other. When Luna was sent to the moon, Celestia’s guilt led her to start taking on some of Luna’s hobbies, including facing her bird phobia. When Luna returned she was astounded to see Celestia now had a pet phoenix and they got along just fine, but Celestia was still afraid of geese and swans. Celestia was outraged when Luna actually stroked a real goose after outsmarting her during the Sibling Supreme fiasco.

Meh, it was OK. It started out looking like a Willy Wonka parody, but this isn’t really kept beyond the factory setting and Cheese’s pimp outfit. Not much to say about it, honestly.
S09E15: 2, 4, 6, Greaaat
Oh, hey, it’s Rainbow Dash. Guess we know what the obstacle is this episode.
Wow, Rainbow Dash is an absolute shmuck.
Oh, she ditched the team for like the third time. Rainbow Dash status elevated to “George Costanza of this show”.
Oh, she didn’t watch their cringe performance. Rainbow Dash’s shmuckness is maximum-er.
Oh she got called out. I guess she will learn the same lesson again now.
Oh that’s the episode title I get it.
Goddamn Smolder got some lungs.
Haha Twilight is the alpha pony, she knew everything all along, Celestia even complimented her crookery, haha.
This episode was meh.
S09E16: A Trivial Problem
Absolutely fantastic opening, wildly frantic pace, amazing reference to Who Wants To Be a Millionaire.
“Competitive library musk”.
Good episode.
S09E17: The Summer Sun Setback
A better “serious story” episode than any of the two-parters so far. I didn’t know Chrysalis could speak goose.
I of course am not fond of the whole “Celestia and Luna are literally retiring” thing, especially with how laughably casual and down-to-earth the whole thing is. I’m also not a big fan of lampshading the “character development” with Discord. Buuut I’ve already come to terms with those things so whatever.
S09E18: She Talks to Angel
This is probably my favorite episode so far, actually. I was worried it’d be stupid.
While speaking as Fluttershy, Angel’s just as much of a total douche as expected. He’s amazing.
Of course, Zecora basically risked Fluttershy’s life with this stunt, but…
I like how Angel dictates his speech through Fluttershy in the end.

TWO GIRLS FOR E
VERY
BOOOOOYYYYYYY
This episode plays out uncomfortably similarly to a love triangle (and thus the resolution is uncomfortably similar to a menage a trois), but is a wonderful example of Classic Rarity.
I especially appreciate Twilight’s reaction to Rarity summoning multiple couches into her house.

S09E20: A HORSE SHOE-IN
If you see Trixie in any episode you already know what the conflict is.
Despite that, Starlight’s character in this one is fantastic, because of Phyllis. Phyllis is wifey.
A support character finally gets something to do! You know, in the last six episodes of the entire show.
The final 5 seconds of the episode are astounding.
S09E21: DARING DOUBT
Wonderful conclusion to the Daring Do saga that is true to pony form. Fluttershy manages to solve the problem all by herself with concentrated nice. I would not change anything.
The gargoyle things are boss as hecc.
S09E22: GROWING UP IS HARD TO DO
SWEETIE BELLE
IS SO BEAUTIFUL
and their voices did not change at all lmfao
this episode was 4/5
S09E23: THE BIG MAC QUESTION
“Everybody Ruins Everything Especially Discord”. The best part is that the Crusaders were the /least/ of the problems. Wonderful.
S09E24~25: THE ENDING OF THE END

is the STUPIDEST IMAGINABLE PLOT TWIST!!!
I’m honestly baffled.
On the plus side…
• You get to hear Discord do impressions of Chrysalis, Cozy Glow, and Tirek
• You get to see Parallel Dark Cozy Glow EX
• “Alicorns really DO have more fun!”
• You finally see actual despair from the voice acting
• “Fly, you foal!”
• The movie characters appear (unvoiced)
Still, that ending is pretty lame.
S09E26: THE LAST PROBLEM
Extremely uncomfortable right from the get-go… I never liked the teenage dragon models. Spike reminds me of that fantasy he had back in A Dog and Pony Show.
I love how Applejack is starting to look like Granny Smith.
I can’t believe Pinkie fucked Weird Al.
I’m not at all comfortable with the Discord x Fluttershy thing.
I don’t really mind that Lyra and Bon-Bon hooked up. It’s a nice detail.
I like that the CMC are here in the same forms as their previous faux-adult forms. (SWEETIE BELLE IS SO BEAUTIFUL.)
The ending song is gorgeous, and almost makes me accept the idiotic end state.
… And now it’s over.
It’s bittersweet. I’m not really sure how to feel about it.
There are some things I would change. There are other things I wouldn’t change. Some episodes I wouldn’t bother remaking for Reverie Equestria. I’d just say “nah, the show did that one perfect”.

Celestia is not dead. Who controlled the sun during the sunset at the end of the last episode? It wasn’t Twilight Sparkle, her horn was not active. Luna had also lost interest in reigning after the Nightmare episode and from the IDW comics we learned that she got a taste of what it meant to reign - she didn’t want any more of this. Celestia and Luna have their own duties besides being reigning monarchs, I don’t think they lost their princess titles just because they gave up the crowns.
We don’t know if Twilight Sparkle has become immortal or not, the immortality of the alicorns has never been confirmed or rejected in the TV show. Only Celestia had lived so long, Luna was sealed in the moon, and it seems that the cutie marks and the harmony magic are essential to “evolve” and live for a very long time. As the book is closed, it meant that we would never know if Twilight would outlive her friends or not. Maybe it’s for the best.
Since Starswirl when not wandering around, has been seen several times in the Silver Shoals which appeared to be popular as a recreation spot for older ponies and ponies who want a relaxing vacation. Maybe it’s the pony’s version of the French Riviera. It will not be surprising if Celestia and Luna have a small castle from where they can travel around the world in the footsteps of their mentor. We have seen in Season 9 that the two sisters want an active life away from old life as ruling princesses.
