Incidentally, in Amending Fences, Moondancer stated that one of the things she was studying was pottery. I wouldn’t be surprised if it were something Twilight studied in her early years.

There are many different skills at crafting and arts.  
If the show had Twilight being bad at pottery before this episode, I would agree with your nitpick.

 
Anyways, here’s something I noticed: spike’s flashback shows Luna was standing on the second step behind Celestia and Shining Armor when sneaking spike the crown. given her dramatic reveal was a few seconds later, that means she had to quickly rush to pose herself like this. xD

I don’t even like the guy and even I think this was probably the tamest thing he’s done. Iirc, he didn’t even know how to surf and/or swim, the whole thing looked like he legit tried to impress her.
