So is that finally an official announcement? Not that I doubt you, it’s just that it seems like every few days there’s another start date.

I find myself hoping that there are enough people who didn’t watch the leaks to make this thread a bit more active for discussion when the episodes air properly.
 
I also find myself wondering how to do tags now. Up until now I’ve been filtering anything that even looks like it could be season 8, but I also don’t want to miss out on officially released news items.

BTW the amount of fans who have watched the leaks frankly kind of disgusts me on a moral level. Sure, they weren’t the ones who leaked the episodes and they are planning on supporting the official releases, but there’s still the fact they saw so much material that they weren’t even supposed to know about for half a year. It might outright turn me away from the discussions too.

I’ll be honest, I’ve been rather upset over that since the day the leaks first came out. And as I said at the time, if this had been an accidental thing on Hasbro’s part or an incidence of it just airing early in some other country, I’d probably be annoyed, sure, but I’d have understood people watching it and done my best to ignore it and wait until it aired officially (like I did a lot last season). But everything leaked this time was flat out stolen. And we’re not just talking unfinished episodes… we’re talking concepts, ideas, personal e-mails, and a ton of stuff that we had and still have no right to see. Frankly it’s bad enough when something like this happens and you have to deal with the blow to discussions and the loss of anticipation and surprise and fun screenshot moments and fan art and everything that normally goes with an episode. But it’s especially disappointing and frustrating to see people show zero concern over the breach of privacy or the fact that all of this stuff was stolen and just go and watch everything anyway.
 
And yes, I know that there are probably a few people out there who may have seen some leak related things and not known where they came from, and I forgive the mods who’ve seen this stuff because they have to know in order to prevent people who are trying to post leaked material against the rules or improperly tagged season 8 stuff. But it still infuriates me that some people legitimately don’t care and feel little concern in blurting out stuff that others are working so hard to avoid having ruined for them.

To me, a foreign airing is fine because Hasbro obviously must have given permission for them to air it, given they had to export the masters and such.
 
And thanks for agreeing with me on that matter; I felt I was alone on it and it left me disappointed.

Yeah, foreign airings frustrate me a bit because I’m particular, but those at least I do my best to live with. Stealing the episodes is never right, and I’ll gladly back you up on that at any time.

On a similar note, there are two trailers that were released on YouTube (today I think) for season 8. A short, more teaser-y one, and a longer one with more scenes from the upcoming season. I’m suitably intrigued. I know the school thing has kind of been hinted at for a while (although Hasbro announcing a toy set based on it kind of gave that away), but it’ll definitely be interesting to see what they do with the idea and how much it plays into the new season (the school and the new characters).
