Sonic Rainboom, Lost Treasure of Griffonstone, Pinkie Pride, Hurricane Fluttershy, Suited for Success, Green isn’t your Color and The Return of Harmony come to my mind as episodes that were generally very well received, even if I had no obligation to answer your question.

But seriously that’s completely stupid, if you need a near impossible phenomenon to just not be a doomsayer about everything then nobody is going to take you seriously when you complain.

Sonic Rainboom had Rarity act like an idiot and Rainbow, of course, be OMGAMAZINGHEROOFALTIME.
 
Lost Treasure of Griffinstone had a cheesy Gilda redemption plot and hammered down “PONY UBER ALLES”.
 
Pinkie Pride was 22 minutes of obnoxiousness and a gag character that made no sense.
 
Hurricane Fluttershy was one of the cringiest episodes in the show; the montage was dumb, Rainbow was obnoxious, and generic “M6 save the day, again, as always”.
 
The other three are pretty good, I’ll give you that.
 
And these are my honest opinions. Which make the episodes status as “awesome” arguable.
 
Also

Testy, are we? Cutesy way of saying “you’re wrong and I’m above answering but I’m so great I’ll humor you anyway”.

There’s only a few episodes I can think of that get near-universal approval, Lesson Zero, Amending Fences etc.

I’m sure there are more episodes that get have incredibly high approval, it’s just that the few people that dislikes them tend to be rather vocal about it.
 
Speaking of Lesson Zero, actually I know someone who unironically considers to be one of the worse episodes in the series.

At least there are only a few episodes out of over 150 so far that have been almost universally panned.
 
Especially since she mentioned her main reason for disliking the episode was Twilight going bonkers towards the end.
 
In a way I could be considered one as well in regards to Magical Mystery Cure since I don’t have a positive or negative opinion on Twilight becoming an alicorn.

IIRC the worst per season are Boast Busters, The Mysterious Mare Do Well, One Bad Apple, Rainbow Falls, Princess Spike, and Applejack’s “Day” Off, and Honest Apple seems to be going that way. Twilight, Rainbow Dash, CMC, Rainbow Dash, Spike, Applejack, Applejack. Would be sad if Season 8’s worst is also Applejack…

Actually, brony analysis member The Voice of Reason AKA Henmo24 had listed Princess Spike at #8 on his season 5 ranking journal. He also considered the episode underrated, said Neal got an undeserved bad rap in the season and thought he had the potential to become a fan favorite writer.

While all those episodes tend to not be viewed that highly, I’m rather surprised Boast Busters hasn’t been at least partially been vindicated since it gave us Trixie.
 
Even if the last three episodes turn out to be a three-parter we still have 12 episodes left to see before we start debating which one is the worst of the current season.

Boast Busters introduced a neat character, but as an episode it was really bad; it made most of the “good guys” look like assholes, the characters that introduced the chaos got rewarded, a random character that didn’t actually do anything evil got ultra fucked over, and overall it was just rushed.

Makes sense considering the writer for said episode was only hired by Faust for a contract, if I remember correctly.

Well with What About Discord and Applejack’s Day Off, he kinda lost that potential, didn’t he?
 
Although in his defense, AJ’s Day Off is not entirely his fault.

I also find What About DIscord underrated.
 
It’s not great by any stretch, but Spike was great in it, and I loved seeing flawed Twilight and her having a flaw that linked into her princesshood.

Only 5 episodes in the series I can consider objectively bad off the top of my head. Any other episode I can think of are episode that are just I don’t like but are not actually bad.
 
Boast Busters and Wonderbolts Academy are both bad. Boast Busters because as The Smiling Pony already said and Wonderbolts Acadamy for similar reasons while Rainbow Dash is somehow treated as someone we should emulate despite the fact that nothing she did in that episode was praiseworthy.
 
Spike At Your Service for absolutely butchering Spike in the one aspect of his character that he should be good at.
 
Ponyville Confidential for basically exemplifying everything why the news media is terrible and how the CMC caught all the blame for it despite the town encouraging their actions.
 
What About Discord because it was literally nothing but Discord being a douchebag to Twilight.

Him being a dick to fans on twitter who were critical of WAD after it aired sure didn’t help.
 
True, but it was mostly his since he came up with the story while the Foxx bros were left with writing the script. If the Foxx bros had little say in what could have been changed story-wise, they might as well have been asked to polish a steaming turd.
