I just need to ask the people who don’t like starlight.
 
Is it understood that a lot of people who like starlight don’t see hr as the best thing ever?

You know this made me wonder something… Did they ever explain how Starlight became so good at magic?

I does feel like they’re showcasing more on these other characters, is that they don’t want to repeat the same lessons with the mane 6. It did kind of reared it’s ugly head in 28 Pranks later in which there were regressions. While i do think that characters like Applejack and Fluttershy have a lot left in the tank when it comes to story, i think having secondary characters, with having the Mane 6 as a supporting role for them is good for both sides.
 
I honestly think we’re seeing these characters like Starlight, Trixie, Maud, Flurry Heart, and possibly others in the future, is that they’re setting up either something big for the finale, or creating a new story for the “New Generation of ponies” or a new “Legacy” type story.

God, i just wanted to talk about how sweet i found maud in this episode.
 
The almost shy way she says “i wouldn’t mind one” when it comes to wanting a friend. I wanted to hug her so bad.

Nope, they never did. She is just that powerful. No information of how she studied, if she had a teacher, or anything else. She is just that powerful for no reason explained.

Well obviously that is never going to happen.  
It left a horrid taste in my mouth as well. But what’s done is done.

But change is good when it’s correctly planned and executed, for example see Samurai Jack’s new series.
 
It took a MASSIVE shift from the original series and gave us a completely broken Jack, a new Aku, slow-as-molass episodes, a heart breakingly depressive new world, etc.  
For all means and purposes it was Samurai Jack on name alone and yet it pulled everything off with flying colors because every change had a reason to exist and everything clicks on it’s place, there’s absolutely zero waste of characters, story or airtime.
 
Isn’t the case with FiM and it’s changes, where new stuff keeps being added and never has a chance to be developed or correctly used before a new change pushes it to the backrow.  
Nobody is saying that all change automatically sucks and I wish this dehumanizing argument dissapeared for good.  
The complains are about badly planned changes that only caused more problems and that’s it.

Or they could change the tone a little and have things actually hit the characters. I think the thing we’re running into is a clash of characters vs ideal/tone. Now it’s not to say that people that like one can’t like the other but for instance those that like the characters more would rather see the tone shift and move away from the overly idealistic world to see more set up with the characters going while those that favor the tone more would rather see the characters change and move on so as to keep the same tone going.

Death is the basis of life so I don’t see that as particularly bad but that is going a bit off topic, and are you really comparing a new character being introduced to everyone dying?

I do think the recent changes have been rushed with no chance for development, but in season 5 and maybe season 4 to an extent, it was done pretty well. At least I think so.

I’m just saying it’s a change most people (try) to avoid and don’t consider good, meaning that change is not always good on the whole. What I’m doing is making a point about change, that it is neither good nor bad and that one shouldn’t treat it as such. Change is change that is it.

…Except for the fact that Sunset is actually integrated with the Humane 6 and is more or less Sci-Twi’s (and to a lesser extent the Human 5’s) mentor.

I really feel like what i say is meaningless, because the moments that have hit me hard enough to tempt out tears have come from seasons 5 and 6 and this latest episode.
 
Like, the show DOES make me feel. It makes me grind wide, it makes me laugh at times.
 
I just feel like i’m being told that the way the characters are going is a mistake. That my feelings are wrong… it’s depressing.
