Season 7 Episode Discussion [Speculation, Discussion, Spoilers] (SPOILER YOUR LEAKS)

Both episodes indicate that evidently, Applejack can no longer get focus episodes without the writers having to create a character flaw that she’s never had before just so she can overcome it within that same episode.

It’s annoying. It makes me want Applejack to not have episodes anymore. Honestly, though, I would love it if she were to get an episode like Fluttershy Leans In, where she actually accomplishes a goal. That’d be especially refreshing since she’s been without goals for the entirety of the show.

Frankly, I prefer characters only appearing when they’re necessary for the story rather than just being there for the sake of it.

You’re basically saying “she’s out of character” which isn’t true.

“Out of character” is alongside “Mary Sue” and Idiot Ball” for some of the most misused yet overused terms.

OOC is if Rainbow Dash woke up one morning, grabbed Tank, said fuck you and then dropped him off in the middle of nowhere with no way back and then went about her life like nothing happened and it’s never addressed. It goes against everything we know about her character but more importantly there is no discernible reason as to why she would do it.

If everytime a character stepped outside of the cardboard cutout lines put in place for them, then Fluttershy is OOC everytime she grows a spine but we know why that isn’t true.

Applejack isn’t OOC. You’re doing what many people do. Throwing out one of those terms when a character is doing something you don’t like. She has a reason why she acted like that. She was growing increasingly agitated at the impractical design choices the designers kept making and we already know Applejack doesn’t have a high opinion of fashion. Her actions are excessive but not OOC.

And a flaw for an the Element of Honesty to learn to be careful about reigning in her honesty? How is that going against character?
