Queen Chrysalis Thread (SFW ART)

This scene (combined with a few others) has me wondering if she’s going to reform or not. If so, I hope she doesn’t get a drastic design change (if at all).

I don’t want her to lose her color scheme. They could just fill up those holes.

That’s what I’m thinking. Fill up the holes, maybe give her a bit more of a tummy since she won’t be as hungry, and that’s it.

Take the armor off and I think this could be a perfect design for a reformed Chrysalis.

I think the whole reforming Chrysalis thing has bred some denial about what Changelings are; it’s better to just admit to ourselves that if Chrissy were reformed she’d have bright colours and full wings like the rest of them.
 
Besides, Chrissy without holes was only seen in FIENDship is Magic Comic Issue #5, released over a year BEFORE To Where and Back Again aired.

I’m okay with the Changedlings. I just think it would be a nice change of pace if they did something different and did only minor tweaks with Chrysalis. If Pharynx could keep dark colors upon reforming, then I don’t know why Chrysalis can’t either. Plus I think her design is very iconic.

I’m inclined to say Pharynx kept dark colours because he’s a warrior. A queen would need to look regal, which I don’t think Chrissy does at the moment.  
I think having bigger butterfly wing and a white coat would suit a queen. She’d be a nice parallel to Celestia that way too. Add some blues or pinks in there and she’d really look the part.  

I liked her S2 voice sounding better than her current one.

And one could argue that Chrysalis is a warrior queen. She leads her hive into battle just like the head of an army would. And I think she could still look regal with a dark color scheme. Just look at Princess Luna as an example of this. She still looks regal despite having a darker color scheme.

True, but Luna’s colours represent the night, so she has a reason to be dark where Chrysalis arguably doesn’t. Pharynx also felt love for the hive through a desire to protect it - a warrior’s reason. Chrysalis cares more about the welfare of her subjects, which is a significantly less warrior-like motivation.  
And yes, her design is well-known, but I’d say that’s more of a reason to change her completely - showing that with reformation she’s become a new, much improved ruler. If she doesn’t change much it’s like saying she hasn’t actually learned anything.

She could care about their welfare but also want to protect them and fight. I don’t see why one can’t go with the other.
 
And I can’t say I agree with you on the latter point either. She can still learn and change a lot mentally and emotionally while not changing a lot physically. Some of the detractors of the newer Changelings don’t like them because they think it sends a bad message that a person has to change a lot physically to be accepted by others and prove that they’re good. Not to mention I think it would be nice to have another Dark Is Not Evil character in the show.

But by the same token why does she need to stay dark? Why keep her the same? Literally the only reason I see for keeping her with a similar design is fear of fans getting angry which isn’t all that good a reason.  
If they didn’t want her to change they just wouldn’t reform her.

I just explained why in my earlier comments. Not every character has to have a drastic change in their design upon reforming. Starlight and Sunset had some minor changes (Starlight got a new hairstyle and Sunset got a new change in her unicorn magic color) but otherwise, they didn’t change much. They can keep things minimal with Chrysalis’.

Using ponies as examples doesn’t really work because Changelings don’t work the same way ponies do; and minimal changes wouldn’t do her justice. This would be a huge moment for her, so keeping her mostly the same would undermine the moment.  
That point the detractors make about bad messages is missing the point entirely. They’re not changing TO BE accepted, they’re changing BECAUSE they’re accepted. It’s a reflection of their emotional change.
