Guardians of Harmony

So, there’s this brand new IP out there with a bunch of new toys and a tie-in comic that it comes with. What do you think of it? You interested in any of the toys or concepts? Would you want a spinoff or EqG-style movies for it?

I’ve invested too much in “current” MLP merch to suddenly go for those action figures, they just wouldn’t fit with the rest. Cute pony, cute pony, adorable pony, dark and edgy action pony… wait, what?
 
So pretty much dead on arrival for me. Just like EQG, I’ll consider it a required offering to please the Hasbro Gods and forget about it.

The designs and settings are already there in the show, and they look awesome. Why go and make… whatever the hell this is?
 

 
Of all the stuff so far, Spikezilla + Shining Armor look nice, but I’ll skip the rest.

I think the idea was that each character had an “action feature” associated with them or something? Rainbow Dash doesn’t though.

The action has to make sense though. For example, instead of that… thing on Twilight, they can make it instead a purple transparent glob attached to her horn, so that it looks like her magic, then have shooting mechanism put in there. Basically, it would look like she creates a magic field, from which magic bolts get shot out.

Come on, the guy even mentioned that Twilight can basically suplex a Changeling with them. How is that not badass?
 
Also, shooting mechanisms need a lot more space than the head of a pony would provide. It only works with Spikezilla because of an elongated muzzle.

Defend Equestria from threats most likely, the sort that will have to pop out of nowhere (since no recurring villains left other than Chryssi… and even then….) and will be able to provide a challenge to 4 demi-goddesses somehow.
 
As for the figurines, I certainly don’t remember any of em having angry, or even war faces. What are they even marketed towards? While it IS something “bronies” have wanted, there’s a reason it wasn’t done until now.

Never underestimate the combined powers of asspulling and worfing. Put together, you can easily introduce a powerful villain without even having to spend any sort of time or effort on developing their character or background. Just say that they came from hell, an unknown empire in the north that literally popped out of nowhere or claim that it came from outside of Equestria. Then have them easily defeat the princesses yet again to instantly make them a threat, yay!

As for the threat, I question something powerful enough to unite Chrysalis, Discord, and the Shadowbolts against it. Unless we’re all interpreting it wrong.

I definitely like the idea of Spike being able to control his greed transformation.

Just because they’re kids doesn’t mean they don’t deserve quality. This whole show is a testament to that.
 
And that thing doesn’t just simply make no sense - it’s ugly. Even more jarring when the other stuff looks awesome:

The armor looks cool, IMO. And the “magic” would have to be such a big blob to hold the firing mechanism that it would look odd. Not only that, but it would shoot at a weird angle. Already Chrysalis has to have this head flick thing to have her action feature.
