I wonder how well EqG is being received in Japan?

The fact that J-dub FG is commissioned by Netflix Japan, with all the songs retained in the original dub (which is unfortunate, then again the Japanese audience need to learn Eigo _English one way or another), and Crystal Prep Academy is a culmination of many things high school anime, expect more fan art from anypony there wearing school uniforms.

Watched the whole thing in Nihongo that I downloaded and saved in full to the end; couldn’t find the credits of the J-dubbers.

What I’ve researched so far:
 
Principal Abacus Cinch is voiced by Tomoko Shiota || 塩田 朋子  
Indigo Zap is voiced by Ami Naitō || 内藤 有海  
They are relatively new names
 
According to uotapo’s blogsite:  
Lemon Zest is also J-dub Cheerilee and Sonata Dusk  
Sunny Flare is also J-dub Applejack

A lot of things in the EqG side of FiM are set-ups for high school anime.

Wait, Friendship Games got a Japanese dubbing now?

Update again from the land where Voltes V came from, actually from uotapo’s blogsite to be exact:
 
Sour Sweet is voiced by Asami Yoshida || 吉田 麻実.  
Lemon Zest is voiced by Ayahi Takagaki, who is also CPA Dean Cadance in the same movie, contrary to my earlier post.  
Sugarcoat is voiced by Suzuko Mimori, who is also Pinkie Pie.
 
 
I can read Japanese for you dudes, semantically, so that you don’t have to.

I’m liking Rainbow Dash’s Japanese dub voice. Same goes for Rarity’s.
 
 
Also I wasn’t aware they still dubbed MLP in Japanese. I thought they stopped at Season 3 or something like that…

Perhaps bushiroad only got the first 52 (Friendship Is Magic pt 1 to A Canterlot Wedding pt2); the next 52 (The Crystal Empire pt 1 to DPDOMS?) were (and felt) incomplete at the time, and the dub cast had other commitments because professionalism and they shouldn’t stick to too much Pony. Then, the MLP license there recently changed hooves to Sega Toys.
 
And of course, the Equestria Girls films in J-dub were commissioned by Netflix Japan.
 
 
For example (during 2014-2015):  
Twily’s J-dubber also did Sinon from Sword Art Online II, Seri Awashima from K, etc.  
Fluttershy’s J-dubber also did Tatsuko Gakumazawa from Fate/kaleid liner and Taromaru from School-Live!.  
Those of Pinkie, Dash, AJ and Rarity are also cast in Future Card Buddyfight, and they are very close.  
Shining Armour’s had to voice Shuu Tsukiyama from Tokyo Ghoul and is also an idol singer in real life. Also, he’s married and has a child to raise.  
And so on.

^ Seriously, this was the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time.

Apparently, according to the DVD/Blu-ray commentary for the movie, Lightning Dust WAS going to be one of the Shadowbolts, and then later they considered Spitfire. But they decided that neither of them were “quite mean enough” so they decided to create a totally new character instead. It was NOT an executive mandate from Hasbro.

Well, some people still try to claim it was the result of an executive mandate by Hasbro, so I didn’t actually know whether it was old news or not.
 
I believe that they also said that the decision to remove Sunset’s homesickness plot was also their own decision, but I could be mistaken.

Lightning Dust getting replaced is old news, yes, but this is the first I’m hearing about why she was replaced and that Spitfire was also considered.

So I JUST finished watching it for the first time ever, finally got around to it.
 
Man, I quite enjoyed it, great soundtrack, enjoyed the story and the roles of the characters, and found that it was a feels coaster, dat ending too! ;)
