Discord dangling ponies over fire: Fact or fiction?

I agree that it does not really matter now. Discord is just such a better character now that he’s not evil anymore, but just an incurable prankster with a huge ego and a soft spot for Flutters. Remember when some people felt it was not a good idea to have him no longer be a villain? Oh my gosh those guys were so wrong.

Am I the only one who doesn’t really care? I mean, it’d be nice to know the truth, but I wouldn’t really care if the show never answers the question. And let’s face it; it probably won’t.

Who said the fire had to kill them? He could have caused them enough pain or torment with “fake fire” that disobeyed the laws of real logical fire. Or it could have been an elaborate illusion that could have still caused them to panic.
 
And Discord may not have physically harmed anyone in those episodes but he still did enough psychological damage for funsies. So I think you’re right in that he probably didn’t kill anyone. But I think he still probably caused enough mental and emotional damage to break them.
 
And nah, you’re not thinking about it too much. It’s very fun to both speculate and discuss these sort of things.

I would hazard a guess to say he did do exactly that, but that the fire was some insane nonsense thing that was actually cold and made you stink of garbage. Cause chaos god.

The widow doesn’t show him killing them, does it? Just tormenting and scaring them, which we already know he does.
 
Personally, I don’t think he ever deliberately killed anypony (may have given some fates worse than death though), but that doesn’t mean many ponies didn’t die as the result of his actions. But that was a long time ago, and immortals have to let bygones be bygones at some point.
