Celestia, Luna, Twilight and Cadance have basically no administrative power in government or military, and their roles are mostly religious and ceremonial, like the Emperor in disunified Japan or the Queen of England

The princesses do have quite a bit of military power, but not in the sense of authority. They’re less like generals and more like attack helicopters.

Zecora’s “native language” is actually just gibberish she makes up off the top of her head.

Hey, that’s pretty much how it went down in real life!

Sunset’s army would’ve turned into ponies that could do magic in the other world, and she could augment their powers much like this did with Snips and Snails. She was also protected by the Element of Magic, meaning even Discord wouldn’t be able to touch her. If she hadn’t tried to kill Twilight, she would’ve easily taken over Equestria without fail.

From what I read, they wanted something like Swahili, but couldn’t afford a translator and didn’t know about Google Translate, or they did use Google Translate, but it spat out a ton of NTs and MDs and they gave up.

Somnambula, ironically, suffers from sleep deprivation. It’s due to a genetic condition that many of her descendants also suffer from. Stallions tend to be affected worse than mares, which is why Soarin’ has bags under his eyes.
 
Princess Cadance has the ability to make ponies fall out of love, but has sworn to never use it.
 
Twilight needs Spike more than Spike needs Twilight.

Her army would have marched one at a time into a small room in a well-defended castle in a city that was far from Canterlot. Also, three alicorns would have been there to fight back.
 
Also, most likely, the ponified humans would be stumbling around wondering where their hands had gone, unable to use magic well because they’d have had no training.

Couple problems with that.
 
“Well-defended” does not apply to anything in this universe.  
Alicorns are not a trump card, we know this well.  
And nobody under mind control wonders about anything.

Pretty sure “army of teenagers” was more of a thing Sunset had to settle for with the portal closing in an hour. If she had the full 3 days Sunset would’ve probably spent it enthralling more than just the nearby highschool. And when she did finally go through the Princesses would’ve been none the wiser.
 
Her plan got really derailed when she tripped over Spike.

what we see of Discord is simply the form he chose to have. His “true” form is closer to a shapeless amorphous fog

It means you’re a horrible person. Just kidding, but they all are, they also are adults without cutie marks.

It’s still my headcanon that Sombra and Starswirl were friends as foals and them playing pranks is why Sombra’s horn looks like that and why Star has his beard. Shadow Play actually makes this look better. Since the pain of having lost a friend to darkness like Sombra would be the kind of thing that would convince Starswirl to more easily think that there’s no hope for Stygian.
