I don’t think “hermit” is the word you wanted, since it essentially means “recluse”.

I think the word you want is nomad.

The world is controlled by gods, (extremely similar to the Greek gods due to almost every magical creature being directly or able to be passed off as from Greek mythology) and other supernatural forces. If the gods are directly based on the Greek gods or the Greek gods outright, and the writers are loyal to Greek mythology for more than creature designs and names, then ponies were created by Poseidon, or his new counterpart, just as in real Greek mythology.

While Celestia and Luna control the sun and moon, they don’t mess with their natural orbital paths. So very few decades, they’ll come at a point where they will unite to form eclipses. Due to Luna’s absence because of Nightmare Moon’s banishment, there haven’t been any eclipsesuggestions due to the strain of controlling both the sun and moon simultaneously for an extended period of time on one pony. This will be the first time a solar eclipse will happen in over a millenium. There have ben plenty of Lunar eclipses, but this will be the first one since Luna’s bamishnent. It has been dubbed “The Great Equestrian Eclipse”.

Heh this is the first time I actually use the forums, I’m posting this here because I don’t have a good image post comments to post this on, but when I was try to figure out how Queen Chrysalis and her changelings would fit into Equestria Girls hairless ape world, I thought up a pretty gnarly head canon, that pretty much goes with “everything happened inside of some crazy kids head”, hopefully no one else thought up my new crazy head canon yet, because I’d be sad if they did. XD  
Okay, Equestria itself does not really exist, at least as the primary universe anyways… The primary world is wherever the Equestria Girls world exists…  
My idea came from trying to make up a head canon explanation for Queen Chrysalis actually being some sort of human that is mutating from radiation, but radiation from a nuclear bomb or anything, but from an Excessive amount of magical radiation.  
If you think about a place like Chernobyl or Fukushima where an entire region of land is cordoned off from a disaster, entire cities, neighborhoods, schools… Homes…  
Imagine if someplace in the Equestria Girls world a massive magical disaster happened, several homes inside of a small town to include the two high school and a movie theater and probably some other locations I never paid attention in the EQG movies/episodes…  
Their entire town is completely shut in due to some horrible magical radioactive disaster, to the outside world everyone inside is dead, people are too afraid to go anywhere near the poor towns.  
But on the inside, no one actually knows that the magical disaster actually happened, they have no true sense of the passage of time, how long they have been in high school, aren’t they supposed to be graduating and going to college eventually?  
Nah, high-school lasts forever!  
No one knows what year it is, they know the difference between summer and winter, day and night, but how many months or weeks are left in the school year? No one is keeping track, after all, no one is even getting older? Teens forever! Because somehow the magical radiation is keeping them locked into something like a pocket dimension and a time bubble…  
They also must have forgotten about the outside world, only knowing or remembering what’s going on inside their small world, all the way up to the everfree forest.  
Now some people are more greatly effected than others, like Twilight Sparkle.  
She with her friends have taken up a childhood favorite pass time, like their favorite small plastic horse toys, and other magical creatures like dragons and griffons…  
As they remember the fun they had with those toys and the elaborate stories they made together, they actually created a pocket dimension inside a pocket dimension.  
Their favorite hang out spot near the schools horse statue actually is now a magical anchor for their newly created pocket dimension.  
Time and space, Equestrias actual physical world and the laws of magic, and even their written history. It all bends according to how they tell their story while they are playing together.  
Villans are only bad guys when they say they are, magical artifacts are only important as they say they are.  
World events only happen when they discuss it.  
If they forget something, it slowly vanishes forever, until they remember it.  
Their canon only exists as they express it. It only lasts as long they do, as long they exist in their isolated magical world.

Equestria is actually a highly democratic realm, despite ruled by royal subjects
 
That way, it’s basically a constitutional monarchy under a Western democracy

After that episode Fame and Misfortune, I’m convinced unicorns are naturally more susceptible to insanity. Must be all that magic so close to their brains.

Since you didn’t actually address Chryssy herself, I’m sticking with the idea I’ve had for a while that the human counterparts to Chrysalis and her minions would be Changeling-clan ninja, specially versed in the arts of concealment and disguise. Because everyone loves random ninja, right?
 
You did present a very interesting variant on the standard “not the real world” theory, though, so kudos for that.

Well I kinda wanted to have a established reason why and how the humanized changelings exist in EQG world but I was at work so I couldn’t properly get back into crazed head canon bending mode.  
But like changelings have two sides to them, their hive like duties and responsibilities in being sneaky and collecting love for a reason.  
And their physical magical body side which seems to share a lot with bugs…  
So in Equestria they are shape shifting love stealing bug ponies?  
I need to figure out a proper way to head canonize shape shifting bug humans. :D

Here is a Sombra headcanon I had been thinking of for quite some time: Sombra’s favorite profession besides warmaking was blacksmithing. He was completely enamoured with process of forging arms and armor and his personal battle armor was fully customized to his build with intertwined layers of plate and mail that were magically enchanted by crystal shards grinded to dust and then embeded into the metal during the forging process. His preferred weapon was a double-bladed greataxe forged with the same process.

If I can percolate myself in the proper environment with a proper amount of coffee… My imagination can get pretty wild.  
But lately jumping between my two jobs has left me kinda burnt out, I need some recovery time to make my brain nice and fluffy again ~

Heh and if so, is the Royal Equestrian Space Program, along with the Princesses themselves, involved in an elaborate cover up?  
Actually when I think back to the earlier seasons, not much was shown about the rest of Equestria.  
A lot people were lead to believe, due to the lack of canonical information, that the term Equestria was to mean the entire frecking planet.  
Now we use Equestria to mean just the kingdom where Princess Celestia reigns over.  
But if you were to go to school and grow in Equestria and you only learned about one map showing just the Kingdom of Equestria and you learn nothing about any other lands or the magical critters like Dragons or Griffons that also occupy the same world with you.  
It would be a pretty cool idea if somehow Princess Celestia kept the rest of the world from touching her kingdom, like a magical force field or some sort of barrier, and no pony would ever leave or learn about the rest of the world…
