Sleep isn't real.
Daring and Caballeron had met before Daring began writing her books. Daring was a young student at Vanhoover University and Caballeronot was a graduate of a smaller college outside of Canterlot. He had lived temporarily in Vanhoover to further his studies in Archaeology, which he had actually enjoyed at the time doing. Daring was also beginning studies on it at the time, as age had been interested in it for many years. They met in the Vanhoover Public Library and while had a tough start with their seemingly opposite personalities, they started become close companies and working partners. Caballeron had taught Daring a lot about archaeology outside of school from personal experiencesfrom college, as well as growing up from hearing his father’s experiences. They both saw a lot of potential in each other. Daring seeing him as a mentor and possibly a partner to work with in the future, and Caballeron seeing her as a mare who can change the views of ancient history to others.
While the duo seemed to be a successful team, it all came to a sudden and crashing end during Daring’s final year when the two were scheduled to go to a Science expo in Canterlot. The duo had made astonishing studies to bring and present to historiansee and scientists from all across Equestria. When the morning came for them to leave, Caballeron had woken up very early, even earlier than Daring who was know to wake up at unbelievable times. Seeing all the things they had to bring, see decided to pack it up and go to the train station early. Before he left, he left a note for Daring that he would be waiting for her at the train station and to be there by 9:30 in the morning. While Daring did wake up a full hour before, she had noticed that the work was gone. She searched around the room in a frenzy looking for it, and in it she had knocked the note under the desk in in the room. As 9:30 had come near, Caballeron was going to return to Daring to see if she was even awake, but with the train comimg so soon, by the time they came back it would alreayd be gone. He left on the train assuming she would find it and fly to Canterlot, she was a pegasus after all.
It was until later in the day while Daring was looking she had noticed Caballeron wasn’t present anywhere. It had hit her at that moment of what happened, he stole their studies and is trying to take all the credit. Before anyone knew what happened, she got dressed and began her flight to Canterlot, and with little drag higher in the air, she was able to outfly the train he was on and reach the city minutes before the train arrived.
Once the train stopped, and the ponies aboard had make their departure and left. Daring confronted Caballeron. The only thing he managed to get out was a cheerful hello and question as to why she was so angry. It wasn’t long before she snapped at him and accused him of theft. He was just confused and offended at the statement, he would never do anything like that to her. As her tried to explain himself, Daring just couldn’t listen anymore. The argument had gotten heated and at it’s climax they both began fighting over the papers and supplies. It ended with a flurry of torn papers and the supplies scattered on the ground damaged and broken beyond repair. At this point, their partner ship as done and over.
Many years later when Daring went incognito under the alias of “A.K.Yearling” and started writing and publishing her secret memoirs, she had written their meeting after all these years as their first one. Like none of those events from such a long time ago had never even happened.
I know y’all are gonna hate it, but this is just a personal headcanon I have for both of them.
