The pics for me come up in thumbnail mode, and I have to click ‘view’ to see the right size. This is an improvement over the previous mode, when they all became large initially, but I’d prefer the older way when you could click them to enlarge them. Thanks…

I, too, like and am grateful for the new change, but would appreciate the return of click-to-enlarge, knowing full well that images would have to load fully upon said click.

i found a problem,  
explicit is now hidden by default so if you put it in spoiler only when you click on it you have to click “show me” every time…  
its either show all the time or have to click a load. :/

OK, I have “Explicit” spoilered, but not hidden. Every time I click on an explicit image, I’m showed the same screen as the other spoilered images, except the spoiler image itself isn’t showing up, and clicking on the text does absolutely nothing.

I’m having the same issue as well. Clicking on the spoiler image brings up the spoiler page with the image number, but clicking on the link that’s supposed to display the image just brings up the same page only with a # at the end of the URL.
 
If you look at your browser’s error log you should see something. If you could paste that here that’d be great. I also need your OS, browser and version info for both to debug this and get it sorted.
 
The missing image issue we’re aware of.

… and the missing image bug is now fixed, along with a tag related loading issue.
 
And yes, we added click-to-resize shortly after bringing the server-side thumbnails back, but with an extra step of rescaling which should make viewing comics much nicer.

OK, now there’s the small oddity of having the image spoilered as “Explicit” in the image listing, but shows the “Hidden Tag” spoiler image in the actual page.
 
I can still view the actual image perfectly fine, but it’s rather strange.

I miss the show so much
I don’t want to sound snarky, but I hope this “new way of displaying images” doesn’t mean that “Thumbnails not yet generated “ and “This image is still being rendered before it can be displayed.” will be the only things we’ll see. Because I can’t see any new images :-(

I have the same problem as JP.
 
The thumbnails and picture takes almost over 10 minutes for me to generate, both on Explorer and Firefox on my part.
 
I don’t know if anyone else is experiencing some slowdown on the site too.

This might or might not be related to this, but sometimes (eg >>282630 and a browser that is including window decoration and scrollbars 1024px wide and a ~830px height) it takes an extra click to go back to the full size. Ie.  
  • Page loads. Slightly downsized image is displayed  
  • Click to enlarge it. Nothing happens.  
  • Click again. Now the full size displays.  
  • Click again. Goes back to the slightly downsized one.  
    It takes two clicks to go to the full-size one and only one to go back to the preview.  
    (probably has something to do with the comic resizes?)

As I’ve said in other threads - the new image display stuff is in and working just fine now.
 
Site-wise, things are slow because we’re repairing all those 404 images. This means checking about 3.2 million images, or around 600 gigabytes of content, to make sure it can all be read correctly (ie isn’t corrupt). This takes a while. We’ve throttled it so the site can stay up while we do it but the site will be a little slow in the meantime.
