Silly question: if Google is indexing the images, are they also indexing the tags…? I mean, I’d like to think so, but one can never assume, with the way they’re running things the past few years.

It probably does to some capacity, but I doubt it’s a specialized system OR reliable in any way for Derpi’s purposes. A cached page may be two hours or two days or two months old.

If the “save as” tags don’t come back, how hard would it be to make an extension or add-on that automatically changed the “save as” filename to the old tagging system?  
I’m tech illiterate so I’m unable to determine if that is feasible, but being unable to choose the location of where i save pics is a pain.
 
Still I’m talking about worst case scenario.

Right clicking the “Download” button and selecting “Save As” should still do this.

Can’t the same thing be achieved by telling one’s browser to prompt for save location on each download?
 
I’ve had Chrome set to do as such for so long I had forgotten that that is not the default behaviour, and I’m sure that most other browsers have a similar option. It’s why I was slightly confused about people being “not able to choose [where to save images to].”.

EDIT: For those wondering, “save target as” also works (I have no “save as” option when I right-click it).

This. I can understand why it’s set as default, but personally I’ve never not used “ask before downloading”.

Uhh, so the View button is back… Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth, I’m just confused because I thought it was very important we get rid of it for the time being. Is it back to stay, or…?

Ideally not, but right now it’s better to suffer some oddity with that particular part of the site because there’s no suitable alternative yet.

Cache performance didn’t improve and B2 was deemed unsuitable for reasons besides technical specs. Therefore the justification for making the change in the first place is null and void and there’s no reason to stick with it.

Thank you for bringing the button back

I’m going to split source editing from tag editing soon, without doing too much to the UI in that area otherwise. It’s turning out a bit thorny, but it’ll make the UI much simpler and saner once done.

The buttons should be below the tags; the original reasoning (image info needs to be continuous, so uploader-image-tags-anything else) is still valid.
 
Also, the “paper with pencil Tags” is entirely not indicative that it’s “edit button Tags”.

Agreed. Just keeping the buttons where the edit tags/source button on the current layout, and having them be edit tags and edit source respectively, would be best of both worlds.

I don’t think aboveor below truly matters, given description editing above has never been a problem.

I actually greatly prefer the look of the red theme mockup. It’s much less visually cluttered.
 
And I really don’t like your tendency to make buttons out of links. I think it looks incredibly ugly when you do that.

For keyboard navigation purposes I would prefer that “Edit tags” button was under the tags. Using the mockup as an example: If I added three tags, I would need to press SHIFT+TAB nineteen times to get to the “Save tags” button (assuming it stays where “Edit tags” button is). If the “Save tags” stays below the tag cloud, I only need three tab presses every time. This is probably only relevant for fancy tag keyboard user workflow, so my perspective might be somewhat narrow.
 
I’d also prefer to have the source on its own line, and all four buttons (“Edit tags” “Tag History” “Edit source” “Source history”) on second line. Concentrating metadata manipulation options on a single line feels less cluttered.

Also, it makes no sense to have the link look like/be a button, moreso for purposes of selecting it.

If it doesn’t truly matter, then you have no reason to move it above the tags either because it’s extra changes/effort for nothing, and hence, shouldn’t do that.

I can just set a certain key hit in combination with alt to activate a particular button. Alt+t for edit tags, Alt+s for edit source, Alt+d for edit description. It’ll be alt+shift in Firefox, because browser standards are odd, but it works.
