What you can do with dupes usually is:
- report them and do not say anything
But then people will not know and spam the comments wondering if it’s a dupe while the report is processed. - add a comment:“dupe >>xxxxxx”
But then that comment will remain even when the pictures are merged, taking up space. Even if a moderator goes the extra mile and deletes the no longer relevant comments, those little red “deleted by moderator” thingies will stay there. - add a “duplicate” tag
Less than ideal (not very noticable/informative) but what if it is a higherres dupe that’ll get merged forward?
What I’m dreaming about is some sort of system where you can put a “dupe of >>xxxxx” comment that is visible to users and will disappear as soon the images are merged.
Basically I’m trying to get rid of all the “dupe” conversation that is piling up in the comment section of older images as more and more dupes are merged back into them.
