Can you verify that that first landing has you fully logged in and all your usual preferences are working?

I’m starting to miss when I always view the number of activities on my profile’s activity statistics.

Nope, this occurs whether I land from my bookmark (http://derpibooru.org/) or the address field (derpibooru.org). All other account stuff works as expected, including all my other filters. The Featured box seems to be the only place where this occurs. If I land on https://derpibooru.org/tags/pecking, the image is hidden as expected.
 
To specify, only the “hide this specific image” function does not work. If I hide any relevant tag, the FI box simply doesn’t show up upon landing, i.e. working as expected.

 
This bug is still apparent. Why hasn’t it been reported yet? Is it only on my end or something?

I reset the post counter on these topics, they should behave correctly now

sha512_hash and orig_sha512_hash searches don’t seem to work most of the time. I’ve taken images directly from the site, max resolution downloaded with the download buttons, and then calculated the hash by various methods, including at least two websites and Hydrus Network, and both searches constantly returned nothing. I’m also set to the “Everything” filter, so that’s not the cause.

It’s a known problem.
 
orig_sha512_hash is the hash of the uploaded file, before processing  
sha512_hash is meant to be the hash of the full-res image after processing, but there’s a bug somewhere that keeps overwriting it with orig_sha512_hash
 
I believe, with the state of things at the moment, this won’t be fixed/looked at until after Philomena drops.

Not seeing that. Comments have expected timestamps, up to 1 year ago, so either it was transient issue or fixed in the intervening 5 hours.

Either it’s in the wrong format or size exceeds 25MBs. Can you please link the file you want to upload?

I want to upload some pictures but there’s an issue: 2 of them are portrait pics while the other 4 are landscape (if you get what I mean. if not, i’ll give a couple of examples if you want)  
I want to upload a portrait sided pic but I clicked browse, chose a pic from my folder(s) & it’s turned sideways like it was a landscape taken pic (when it clearly wasn’t) & I haven’t uploaded it yet because I’m worried it’ll still be sideways when I do finalise the upload. I select the same image over & over I want to upload & it does the same thing every time.  
somehow, I don’t have this issue with the landscape pics as they’re already sideways. & tried choosing a pic which I uploaded here nearly a year ago that was also a portrait & that didn’t do what it’s doing right now (don’t worry I haven’t uploaded it again, I refresh every time).

short version: Upload > browse > chose portrait pic > pic for some reason turns sideways & landscape pic is not effected.  
is there a bug or something or is it just me?

The “portrait” pics you have aren’t actually properly portrait, they’re landscape with EXIF data that tells your system to display it rotated. Derpi wipes EXIF data (for your own privacy included). Wipe said data yourself then properly rotate then upload.

it’s odd because they appear portrait & did so when I took the photos.  
reading your response gave me an idea. I don’t know if it’ll work but i’ll try it.  
(basically open the file with MS Paint, click save & as i’m typing this, the idea worked.)
 
the plan worked but i’ll upload them tomorrow.

MSPaint will absolutely obliterate filesize. Right-click - properties - details - remove properties and personal information - remove following - select all - OK.  

Phone cameras are landscape.

You can’t have vertical landscape though.

That’s why it sticks EXIF on it.
