PNG to JPEG

I recently uploaded a comic from furaffinity the the picture files on fa were pngs but on here they are jpegs.  
Just wanted to know if there was an actual reason for that and not just a glitch

Looks like the images on FA were actually JPEGs saved with a “.png” extension.

FA resizes uploads that are too big and converts them to JPEG without changing the filename. Yes, it sucks.

However you still can replace file with full-sized version if you edit it afterwards.
 
It’s stupid and hilariously inept, but in a beneficial way!

I just wish more people knew about that trick.
