Please, for the love of god, make announcements closeable

Why is this still not a thing? It’s the most annoying thing on mobile when you just want to enjoy some nice pics but you have to scroll all the godd*mn time to actually see anything properly…  
It almost uses 1/3 of the available screen space here and this has been going on for a week now minimum…
 

I’ll trim down the current notices a bit so they might not wrap as much. While this is a planned feature, to be able to hide them, it is low priority as it’s fairly rare to have multiple.

I don’t see how making them dismissable would solve the “scroll down for content” complaint. Even without any announcements you gotta scroll past the featured image.

“fairly rare” is well said… You guys had multiple ones just a few weeks ago already, and prior to that also a few weeks ago. They aren’t as rare as it seems and when they happen they’ll stay for 2-3 days like that. I checked the planned features section and its not mentioned there yet, else I wouldn’t have made this thread.

Still, I always have to scroll on mobile even without announcements. Really not an issue for me, and that’s coming from a person who is using the site 90% of the time from mobile.

I’m using the site almost exclusively on mobile and it has been an issue for me ever since. On posts that stay in a relatively good aspect ratio it’s not an issue but combining that with announcements even on pictures I wouldn’t have to scroll down I now need to in order to see the key parts of an image, without announcements this isn’t much of an issue.

It’s still in our low priority todo list. We’ll do it eventually, just not right now.

For now I added derpibooru.org##div.flash--site-notice to block this annoyance. IMHO announcements should be either closable for current session or visible through icon drop-down menu.

And considering you know what could possibly return, its for these just in case there’s a warning (Which I don’t think is a good idea) to have it closeable
