Tag concern, pillory and stocks are NOT the same but they are dumped together under Stocks which are a feet only device, Pillory is the head and hands device.

There’s an entire forum for being nit-picky about tags.
 
And in reality, those terms are used interchangeably, so even if they have different definitions according to the dictionary, they’re the same thing to probably 99% of the people.

They’re mostly used in sexual situations for uploads here, and hooooo boy people scream real loud over highly specific definitions when it comes to their fetishes, so it sounds like something where the added granularity would be worth the effort of just separating the tag implications to avoid arglebargle.

A little arglebargle is ok, especially if removing the arglebargle just makes the system harder for everyone else to use. Also, it would really be best if this discussion moved to the correct forum.

You really need to clarify that kind of statement. What part of the site isn’t easy to use?

Trying to find ANY useful forum page or info, no general search function anywhere that helps. Also while we’re on it, how a bout on the search bar on the top of the page an easier way of figuring out what tag you are looking for, so often the tags have idiotic naming that start with something bizarre instead of the core word you are trying to find.

There’s a link to the forums in the top navigation menu. And a “Search Posts” link both in the “Forums” dropdown menu and the top of every page in the forums.
 
Also there’s a tag search function too, that helps make finding tags easier if you don’t know the specific name - link

I still think it would help a lot to find unfamiliar tags if that list could be ordered alphanumerically instead of just by popularity. I end up leaving off tags sometimes because I don’t know what the existing tag is to describe something, and the only current way to look for them is to start typing in the fancy tag field and see if anything relevant pops up in the dropdown suggestions.

Activity in the site forums would be improved with the use of toggleable push notifications and perhaps live notifications in the notifications center.  
It would also be appreciable to see the post text in the push notifications, were they to be implemented.
 
Would this be within the realm of possibility?  
I ask because the link in the first post led me nowhere.

Notifications are probably as close as they’re going to get to “live” already; whenever the cache updates, so does the notification count, so usually it refreshes itself every few minutes.

The notification count may refresh itself, but that often takes time and isn’t as convenient as it would be when you’re reading through something and get a notification when the icon at the top of the screen is out of view.

Staff has mentioned before that “live” notifications aren’t possible. It’d be far too taxing on the server-end to implement it. Don’t remember what, if anything, was mentioned about push notifications.

They’re certainly possible, the problem is that derpi users tend to (1) not keep their pages open for very long and/or (2) open lots of tabs all at once, which poses a problem as having legitimate users with tens of open websocket connections and who keep reconnecting is not very efficient from either a client or a server perspective, but much more taxing on the server end.

Have you considered pulling all that logic into a shared worker?

Or even moving it to push notifications. Then it wouldn’t matter how many windows/tabs/whatever are open. It wouldn’t even matter if your browser was closed either in newer OSs.

Name browsers and OSs it would break compatibility with that are still in use, including by byte[] himself.

Not sure I’m following. Push notifications are supported by all major browsers, and while mobile OSs are better supporting them for the moment, there is talk that the handler for them will be moved from browsers to the OS itself (in windows 10).
 
I’ve mostly been chatting with one of the devs in the fimfic discord about it, and how they’ll also (hopefully) add web-push at the same time, which will help my bot stay more up to date than currently.

Hey, not sure if somebody already ask for this but here’s my suggestion  
what about adding an option to disable the comment section under image? (something similar to “post anonymous”)  
I know this sounds strange or something but it would be a nice thing if somebody wants to upload something but the person is afraid of drama/being bullied after uploading
