It would be nice if we could ‘watch’ the tag changes in some way. Maybe just a notification when the tag has updated that just gets its timestamp moved up like when an image gets multiple comments between you checking it, so that its not sending out a ton of them in case someone applies the function to a high-traffic tag for some reason.

The orbital friendship was just a minor bug fix in regards to deleting certain spam posts.
 
To my knowledge, comment searching is not a planned feature at the time. I’m not saying it won’t happen, but instead it’s not something we’re working on at the present.

When retroactive tags like “Featured Image” or “Hilarious in Hindsight” get added, it’d be nice to be able to know without having to actively remember to go and check on the tag changes for that tag.

There’s a hotkey (L) for opening the tag/source editor, but there’s no hotkey for closing it and saving your changes. Perhaps Alt+L could do the trick?

I’m not quite sure if this is the correct place to suggest this, because it’s at the same time related and not related to the site itself: why don’t you try to revive the old Twitter of Derpibooru? I mean, I’m personally curious to know the updates on the heart of the site, like things that happens to the server, or why there are downtimes, etc. I know that the page already have a Tumblr where this kind of stuff are posted, but if it’s something simple I know that you won’t post it there.

They removed the link to it from the bottom of the page. But yeah, a Twitter account would be nice for these kinds of things, like how e621 has.

Yeah, the Tumblr was discontinued, and the Twitter’s also pretty much dead, but we’re talking about reviving them now

Not sure if this is the right place, or if it has been suggested or not, but whatever.
 
I keep getting frustrated with myself when I post artwork with hideous flaws that I missed when drawing something, is it possible we could get a re-upload feature for works already uploaded? Sort of a pain uploading it twice and reporting the duplication and waiting for the two to merge…

Unmoderated re-uploads have massive potential for abuse.  
For example, what’s stopping a troll from uploading an image from a really popular artist, it gets lots of upvotes, and then they change it into something terrible?

No, I mean for it to be an option only for the uploader, no one else. Fur-affinity, Inkbunny, etc etc all have that feature available.

There are a few reasons we don’t allow directly replacing an image. We tried it before, and it was abused heavily by trolls. Just a fine example of a few assholes ruining it for everyone.
 
You can always just upload the updated version as a new image, and we can merge it so all the comments, votes, favorites, etc on the old upload get transferred to the new one.

Yeah, if this was going to be done, we’d need some way of putting reuploads back on the front page. Otherwise people could be switching out old images for images that are against the rules virtually without any oversight.

How would trolls get access to it if it was only available for the original user who uploaded it? That sounds like you guys have a major security issue if people can access other user’s account for the sole purpose of trolling. : /

But what if the troll was the uploader? That’s the problem we’re talking about, like SuperSupermario said - someone would upload an image that they didn’t draw, let it accumulate a bunch of votes/faves/comments/etc, then change the image to something completely different.
 
No one can access anyone else’s account, unless the account they’re trying to access has a really poor password or something like that. We can’t do much about that though.

And if the original user who uploaded it decides to troll? That’s also how it was the first time if I recall correctly. the user would get a dupe report and could chose to confirm or reject. And people abused that.

We had this feature before; uploaders were able to mark their uploads as duplicates of other images. The intention was for uploaders to be able to immediately merge a duplicate image they uploaded into its original immediately (as they were notified on upload) or be able to merge forward themselves immediately if they uploaded an updated version.
 
While most people used this properly, a handful used it improperly out of confusion (merging the wrong way, or out of panic or whatever), and two people used it to upload shitposts, wait a day for them to get massively downvoted and comment dramad, then merge into proper art uploads, as well as the reverse. For the lulz or whatever. Unfucking that mess up was very painful.
 
Basically every feature we’ve implemented that gave more power to users to edit established data has been abused, even if by just a few people, in a way that’s made fixing things more effort than what was gained.
 
It sucks, it really does, but the headaches from just a few errors or abusive users really aren’t worth it.
