I’d rather be able to distinguish “has a score of 5 because not many people like it” from “has a score of 5 because barely anyone has seen it”. Especially as one who is regularly annoyed by how OC images usually get a fraction of the score that an official-character picture of the same quality would get, just because they’re much more often ignored.

We’re very much extremely aware of how downvotes should serve as a highlight for “shitpost”. Unfortunately we’re also extremely aware of how many users use downvotes for “I don’t like Starlight so I’ll downvote all images of Starlight”*, leading to fucking over people using score for the first case.

Seriously, making it into a random top 30 was a great idea. Gives more than the same 4-5 artists much needed exposure and promotes greater picture diversity, ensuring more and more artists have the chance to be found by more and more people.
 
So yeah, great work on that. Here’s to many more positive changes, should they be thought of or brought up.

Agreed with that, sometimes also were times that you could see a single artist or practically the same art but with sutile variations of one artist, it’s good to see some variety for other artists and kind of art.
 
Also now it’s possible to search with a tag (unless it was already possible and I didn’t noticed until now).

Yeah, you can easily get the top 4 by clicking the trending link which orders it by score :D

Since when the fuck have you been able to put something like “3 days ago” in a time-based search query (like created_at)

I also really do feel loads less autistic artistic jealousy now that I don’t have to look at the same things over and over again in top scoring, getting avalanched in praise while I attempt to make a name for myself. It takes a lot of pressure to compete off my shoulders.

Unless I’m missing something huge, that doesn’t mention you can put relative times there, like “X hours/days/years ago”.

Presumably under such a system downvotes would also be quantified like total score is now, so you could complex filter things with score <25 and downvotes >25 (or insert your own criteria here)

If you’re only going to have downvote for shitposting; then it should instead be a flagging tool.
 
Of course there are people who downvote because they don’t like that Twilight got wings; but most people seem to only downvote bad art.
 
There are well made art of Donald Trump with his “build a wall” slogan that is barely downvoted. (Currently 37↑ 5↓)
 
If trolling/mass-downvoting is a problem; try filer out accounts that has barely any upvotes?

Should probably add it to the search syntax page then.

Query: would it be possible to make it so that images under my:uploads show regardless of filters? I ask because an image I uploaded got tagged with a tag I filter and I had no idea what happened to it (thought it got deleted) till I went through the image numbers.

I will agree on this; it should work just like when you search for a spoilered tag, that tag isn’t spoilered no more … but to the extent that hidden tags are shown.
 
(Spoilered and hidden tags could still be spoiler-marked … like how you go to a hidden image / someone linking a thumbnail, and it’s spoiler-marked instead of being hidden)

Not sure I like the way viewing your Watchlist, Faves, and Upvotes are now a search instead of just being a list of those items… That honestly seems like a completely unnecessary change to me.

Instead of giving you the cookies already baked, we’re giving you the ingredients and recipe.
 
This gives you (and users in general) much, much more flexibility to do what you want with the individual parts, but requires a slight bit more time investment on your part to put it all together.

I’ve always had my minimum score set to 3 to omit low-quality images. However, when uploading, I would override that setting by changing the score parameters below the search bar at the bottom of the page. This would let me make sure an image wasn’t uploaded a minute before. However, the new search doesn’t allow that. Would it be possible to let the score.*: query temporarily override my minimum score settings again?
 
Otherwise, I like the new search. Don’t change it back.

You might consider adding a date filter in conjunction with your minimum score filter (e.g. score.lte:3,created_at.lt:1 hour ago)
