- So this kiddo is the unfortunate bastard of Queen Novo and the Storm King. Back when Storm King first became a threat, initially he had been allied with the Hippogryphs with a very shallow understanding of the Hippocampus. He used their Air military to build up his kingdom. Novo and him were closer back then, she agreed with his plans to try and unite the outer kingdoms as they had been warring for so long. What she realized too late was that he planned to be the absolute leader and would subject everyone to his whims. Novo fought back and with-held her armies from the Storm King, pushing her undersea kingdom into the deeper regions to make sure he never found them. Things didn’t go well. Storm King had influenced many of Novo’s subjects and he had taken precautions to Mount Aries in case of a situation just like this. Multiple bombs went off and the war between Novo and Storm King raged for three days. In the end, the hippogrpyhs were forced to retreat to their fellow hippocampi and Novo was taken hostage by Storm King. In his prison was where Borealis was conceived… Novo was forced to give birth, still in prison but being the stubborn queen, she held on and managed to make it through. Two weeks after Borealis was born, a group of hippogrpyh assassins broke her out and took her to the kingdom. The assassins who knew of Borealis’s existence were tasked with taking him to the surface where he could be raised away from the kingdom. If it were public knowledge, Novo would be deserted due to the heavy standards of SeaQuestria. Borealis was taken to ponyville, known for the friendly community and was found by Fluttershy.
-Borealis knows how he was born, once he learned of seaponies and the Storm King, it was easy to figure out why he looked so different. As a young child, he always kept his head higher than everyone else in hopes that if he came off as a king, they would treat him as such. Sometimes this worked, sometimes it did not. Due to this, he became a recluse and decided not to talk if he didn’t have to. He’s very poor at communicating what he needs due to this.
- He loves his sisters. The three of them have a close bond and him and Patti kind of watch after Zee-Zee. Patti seems to be the only pony who really understands what he’s like. They’re very close and she’s the only one he really talks to besides Fluttershy. He ends up getting close with Athena later on once he meets the royal friendship family for the first time. The two really hit it off
