G3 Pinkie had a throttle on the wackiness that she could actually turn down. But very much recognizable as the same character.
 
Rousing speech a la G3 Pinkie: “Look, just because a humungous dragon that we’ve never seen before snatched her and took her to a mountain nobody had ever been to before doesn’t mean she’s gone forever!”
 
Other ponies: [somehow fail to look roused]
 
But after that, she gives a proper rousing speech and leads the team - she was actually the leader and quite good at it.

G4 Pinkie is pretty smart, she just has focus issues.

From what I remember she also seemed to be one of the more intelligent characters. Although that’s hard to gauge considering…Y’know, g3…

well G3 Pinkie Pie was definitely way more level headed and calm
