Description

So, our queen is finding it harder than expected to play the princess. To be frank, I messed up the facial expression very early-on and figured the speech would give context.

Regardless, this drawing was a long time coming, not only because I could find endless things to ‘fix’ with it but also because I was not very productive over the Christmas and post-Christmas period.

To nit-pick myself, as usual, I dislike the background as a whole and found that my shadows don’t quite reach the edge of their respective places (presumably due to one of my effects.) just before I wanted to upload this, so I really did not want to edit the shadows. Especially when I had rasterized that layer a looooong time ago.

I know the crown is cut off, by the way. To be honest, I forgot it for a while and didn’t want to change my aspect ratio or cut off the foot. Also, yes, that is my handwriting. Look, there was a delay with my paintbrush because Photoshop hates me and my computer’s specs aren’t the best.

The next one I plan to do will be a pony once again, this time I plan to really spend some time watching speed-painters, looking through pictures, looking up tips and tutorials etc before I put it up. So it may be a while. I’m debating whether to do Applejack or Rainbow, since Rainbow is, well, rainbow-coloured. Which may be interesting. On the other hand, Applejack has Winona (I think that’s the spelling) who may be fun to draw. I’ve done Pinkie and I did Fluttershy on Derpibooru and Deviantart. I guess Rarity and Twilight are options too. Oooo, maybe I’ll do Twilight… Wings and magic may make a nice effect if I have some light behind or something. Okay, now I’m just rambling with ambitions, I’ll do what I do. Things are sure to change, as they always do.

Regardless, I have a story that I need to update, since Darkest Light: Lone Wolf has had no love for a good week or two.

Yeah, I could do text quite easily, just (as you mentioned) I didn’t want it to seem like a cut corner. But it would probably look better. As for the crown, I realised during a critique stream that I could’ve resized all the layers at once and fixed it, but it’s too late now. Or, to clarify, I can’t be bothered now (especially with Derpibooru’s lack of a delete image button). Anyway, thank you!

The crown being slightly out of frame doesn’t matter all that much; things get cut out of frame all the time.

As for the text, would you consider using the Text tool, instead of writing it? I know it may seem like a shortcut, but if you’re like me and can’t hand-write for shit, then it’s an invaluable tool for putting dialogue into an image.

Anyway, nice work!
