She’s served as a minor antagonist in the series - she will be deleted, seeing as she has no further use.
That may be true, but here’s something to bear in mind: one always has the power to decide what to do in any circumstance. It’s more than just stimulus -> response. It’s more like stimulus -> decision -> response. While the city may have been very competitive, Suri made the decision to become who she is. She is ultimately responsible for herself. Now she must reap what she sowed.
The keyword here is “was.” Sure, Suri may have a tragic backstory that we don’t know about, but as things stand now, she’s pretty despicable.

I personally like to think that when Coco stood up to Suri by retrieving Rarity’s trophy, she told the judges about Suri stealing Rarity’s designs. As a result, Suri’s fashion designer license was suspended for half a year and lost most of her following customers.
Since then, Suri has been miserable and regretful about what she done and hopes to make amends with Rarity and Coco.
It’s supposedly magical, because the pattern is constantly moving. Ordinary fabric doesn’t do that (if it does, stop taking those drugs). It was Suri who first showed the (stolen) fabric to the world, everyone thinks Suri made it. What would Rarity do anything with it anyway? She won already.
I’ve been watching way too much Two Best Friends Play lately.
I know that, but why is it magical?
And surely, an experience like this wouldn’t make rarity shun something beautiful she made in such a manner?
It’s the magic fabric Rarity created and Suri stole.
