I have to agree, but I’d like to add that another issue season 8 has is how they portray the mane 6. I’m glad you brought up fluttershy earlier, as what she did seemed more like something pinkie would do. We had twilight automatically assuming the cmc tricked that one girl into failing, even though twilight knows them better than that. You have aj and rainbow restarting their pity rivalry (which no fan asked to bring back) their negligence nearly causing yona to drown, and to make it worse, they didn’t even try to save her despite being the most athletic mane 6 members. Then you have pinkie in a later episode who after being a public nuisance, abandoned her friends, family, and duty to her job, the map, and school over an instrument. It seems like Rarity and Starlight are the only main ponies that haven’t been dragged in the mud.

I basically feel like they think they pushed certain characters too much and others too little, and for one they are trying to get them back in the limelight in the way they are doing is a bit similar to EQG. As well as some of the new kid characters not seeming exactly important so far. We’ve been through half the season already and things still barely seem fleshed out in some areas, even less so than one would expect, and some characters had episodes I think that seem to go against who they were (Fluttershy for example, it felt like her episode where she turned into 3 different other ponies basically was just calling her a multi personalitied freak than someone who was learning to be better assertive.)  
Amongst other things, but I’d need to watch again to really give you my thoughts.

EQG > FiM writing-wise. It’s a fact, these special episodes were amazing. Much better than anything I saw in FiM in the last 3 seasons.

Funny considering the fandom is full of grown manchildren complaining about what insignificant things good and isn’t, both in the show and EQG, even with somewhat irrelevant behind the scenes crap.  
Even to this day, still seems like they fit right in.

That’s probably why Starlight got so much hate at first. During season’s 6 and 7 it felt like Twilight’s and Starlight’s characters were constantly fighting for the title of main character. Which made sense because season 4 ended Twilight’s original narrative and instead of giving her a new one the then current writers introduced Starlight to give the show narrative focus.
 
But now, if there was only one good I can say about season 8, it was that giving Twilight a new goal in creating the school put her back at the show’s narrative focus and having Starlight be the Guidance Councler cements her as Twilight’s second.

I don’t hate it. I love MLP.  
I’ve loved every season up till now and thought people that blatantly disregard it for one reason is stupid.  
Season 8 however, there’s just been many misdirections, it’s not just one thing that people are starting a revolution over like Season 3 or Season 5.

I can watch if I so choose, It just feels misdirected in areas. It’s just a show. However, insulting other people is a level above calling a show not so good.

Thats one area they should take notes from FIM, is centering her better, as FIM does with Starlight at times.

I stopped watching Equestria Girls after the third film. It wrapped up Sunset’s character arc just fine. I finally decided I was done with Equestria Girls when previews for the fourth film gave the impression that Human Twilight was going to be forced into a more centered focus, when that should have never have been the case.
 
Even now with previews from the newer stuff, except for Forgotten Friendship, it seems Sunset is constently being pushed further and further aside from a series where she should the undisputed main character.
 
The fact that the animators never put Sunset at the center whenever they do the rainbow laser tells me enough. They didn’t even center her in Forgotten Friendship, which just felt so wrong to me.

WHY??? Seriously, why attack the staff over a freakin set of movies/TV specials? Like @Background Pony #961F said, ignore it if you do not like it. Scroll on past it. Just don’t watch it!

I’m not even belong in the ‘fandom’. I’m still watching the show, and YES I hate the Equestria Girls, but as a pre-30-year-old independent individual adult like me, I just ignore it and move on to my own life.
