Yep, it was mentioned as early as in s01 episode Look Before You Sleep: “Spike is away in Canterlot on royal business.”.
Rarity also wasn’t OOC; Rarity’s biggest personal vice is her greed, and this not only applies to materials, but also others who were paying her attention.

Thank you for saying that. I hate both episodes, especially Mare Do Bad, because the mane 6 except Dash had been OOC.
Dash saved ponies and was proud of it (it’s kind of her personality) and obly the other mane 6 had a problem with that.
Still don’t know how ooc this episode is, but knowing season 9, it most likely is ooc.

I think Simple Ways is likely the most absurd Rarity.
That said, I felt her most OOC moments were at the end of Molt Down and the TV short episode where she’s obsessed with the right breeze to blow her mane.
That said, I didn’t see the episode yet (I have no intention to until it airs where I live). Considering it’s a Haber episode, I wouldn’t be surprised if Rarity is a complete lunatic and they have Spike and Gabby “we’ve always been friends. Like, how didn’t you know that? Nevermind that I don’t even show up in the single episode where Gabby visited ponyville.”
If that happened, I’ll be really mad.
Was Rarity that OOC though? IMO the most ‘OOC-fuckup’ episodes are “The Mysterious Mare Do Well” and “28 Pranks Later”

I swear I saw some statement somewhere that all the mane 6 were around 20 when the show started and if Twi hatched Spike when she was around 5-6, this would make Spike around 15-16.
Though regardless, he’s allowed to do lots of things that folks would only allow an adult to do; including running classes, doing official paperwork and in general doing jobs.
