I personally think:
-She should change
BUT
-She should be evil
A gorgeous counterpoint to the dark and obviously evil, she becomes bright and more powerful while still being evil.

That first part was what I was saying not that mine is correct. The second part I don’t care I don’t watch the show anymore and season 7 will mean nothing to me in terms of what is considered official.

The amount of arguing over which head cannon is more credible is a bit silly, anyone’s guess is as good as the other but we’ll just have to wait for the season 7 finale to know whether if Chrysalis does get reformed and shed some light on the Changeling race as a whole.

I actually would like more new villains. The last one being Tirek, but technically the last one original to G4 was Sombra, meaning the most recent new FiM villain was… Well, the sirens, actually. X3

Anyway, overall, I’d like moar newbs. ^3^

Bitch seems like the eternally evil kind, destined to go down in flames like Sombra and Tirek. Least, that’s my own take on her character. Sadly, the Twilight > Starlight > Chrysalis reformation chain to show Starlight’s rapid change seems to be pointing towards Chrysalis being reformed at the end of S7.

Poor Chryssie. You’re literally all that’s left for big bads from days of old. xD

It’s all very possible that Chrysalis simply sees no other way, it would assist in the “mirror” aspect that is going on between her and Starlight glimmer.

Yes, I mentioned Thorax was a coward in an earlier comment, but I’m ALSO stating that this is the proof that they don’t have a hive mind, along with the communication device used in the crystal castle. If they really had a hive mind, Thorax would have been a time bomb that Chrysalis was looking through and COULDN’T turn traitor, they wouldn’t need a long distance communication device, and the other changelings couldn’t have refused Chrysalis’ orders at the climax.

Yeah I know I said they DON’T have a hive mind.

I was talking about the difference between a hive (queen ant/bee and her birthed hundreds of offspring) and a people (a race of individuals with individual lives working towards similar goals). Chrysalis NEVER ONCE refers to the changelings as “her children”. The “Sparkly wings” comment is me simply saying that it was shown in stone that the Changelings are NOT a hive species, they never were except perhaps in their larval form, and are ALL allowed free thought. The only thing that changes that is if there was someone curbing their mindset into thinking they have to obey them. Thorax could very well be the offspring of Chrysalis, but that doesn’t mean all of the changelings are, or even if ANY of them are.

Yeah I got that they aren’t a hive species but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a leadership role which Chrysalis fills and given the nature of the changelings as parasites it makes sense they would have a common goal and work as a unit that doesn’t mean they don’t have free will it just means they have a common and understood system of doing things. This is my headcanon but I see it as more of a roman empire style of society where they consider outsiders untrustworthy and thus see them as food and nothing more for the sake of protecting themselves. I find it very likely that being parasites they aren’t very accepted outside of very rare instances like Kevin so they became very hostile towards those that shunned them and Chrysalis still holds a grudge and doesn’t realize things have changed since then so she teaches her changelings to be wary of them and not accept them, it puts her in a middle ground of being wrong because it’s not how it works anymore but she’s right in that she cares about her changelings and doesn’t want to see them hurt so she teaches them to be hostile towards them and to feed on their love whether they allow it or not. She obviously wants to be the leader as well but I don’t feel it’s her sole motive. Other than that she seems to let them do as they please and clearly doesn’t track them down if they leave given Thorax and possibly Kevin so if they don’t like it they are free to leave. But Chrysalis doesn’t like the ponies and the changelings believe what their queen believes just like a child believes what a parent believes, it’s not that she’s indoctrinating them with lies but that she’s telling her experiences with them and how she hates them for it so the changelings believe that to be the case as well.

That’s just my headcanon not saying that’s how it actually is but this what I mean about saying anything is certain we all have different feelings towards them but none of this is provable, so we can both say what we think and both of us would still technically be right in that these are possibilities but they can’t be considered facts. So they could be her children or some could be from other changelings but that still doesn’t mean she forces them into anything or that she is oppressing them.

For the Mother comment, you really got confused, lemme explain.

I hope this is a little easier to understand. Misunderstandings are some of the worst causes of arguments.

What? It was SHOWN in “Times are a changeling” that they hatched in a mass nest and the only “adult” around is Chrysalis. None of them refer to her as their “mother” and she make no attempt to make that connection to them. They don’t share a hive mind and Chrysalis has no control over them other than barking orders and brute strength/pecking order, otherwise Thorax would have turned traitor and/or blown their cover the instant they were close enough to her. The “headcanon” regarding that part is just taken from what I’m seeing;

You don’t know if she didn’t make a connection we saw like 2 seconds of her with the grubs and that’s it we didn’t see her do anything to them you are making huge assumptions, you’re right they are not a hive mind that has been established many times already it has nothing to do with whether they like her or not as that is a biological function it’s not something you can just gain because you want it. How does Thorax leaving prove anything? You are putting way too much faith in this one character who as we saw was born differently, the second he saw his kind he saw them as scary the moment he hatched, before even seeing Chrysalis or before she could as you seem to think turn them into hostile creatures, so no him leaving has nothing to do with chrysalis as he just didn’t like his kind from the beginning because of special snowflake syndrome.

Chrysalis has a nursery of changelings. If she laid them herself or stole them, we don’t know, but it was assumed she was the mother since she’s a queen of a hive. HOWEVER, that comes into conflict with the season finale when Thorax first shows that he no longer feels the pangs of hunger, shows iridescent/sparkly wings, and then when he willingly gives away “honest love”, it triggers a metamorphosis into a “higher form” and shows that changelings still aren’t so much a hive as they are a people.

That makes no sense at all, how does Thorax getting sparkly wings because he was given love prove Chrysalis is not the mother? He was given love something that had not happened before so saying because of something that has only happened to him and not the others even though the others had never had the same experience proves he is not her child? That makes literally no sense at all. That’s like saying because a kid caught a disease his mother or brothers never caught proves that child is not actually the son of that mother.

As for the feeding aspect, remember, it was due to Thorax getting love for who he was, not for who he was imitating that gave him the satisfaction. The other changelings don’t get that and instead, are “always hungry”.
The headcanon part would be that them being hungry would make them more liable to do things for her benefit to get love, thus controlling them via hunger and not letting them form natural friendships, and at the end of the day, she gets to feed as well and she still has a thrall over hungry, starving soldiers willing to follow her command to get temporary relief from their pangs.

That is a possibility yes but there is no proof of it, that is all I am trying to say here could these things you mention be a possibility? Perhaps but at the end of the day it is just speculation and there is no point in trying to state anything with certainty.

Did Chrysalis, in her youth, discover the black stone and found that it negated magic, but not of their earlier forms? Did she go mad with the realization of power that could be had? She carved it and made a throne of it to protect the hive, which caused a massive dead zone, but how much of her speech of “protect the hive” was true for the sake of her “people”? Did she know that if she went through the metamorphosis that she couldn’t use the stone? Did she know that she would suffer the hunger pangs but the pain was worth the power and control she’d have in the end (this would certainly explain her powerful push to control places and funnel the love back to her, not only for power, but to sate her hunger)? Did she abduct an entire nursery of Eggs and become a dictator to an entire generation of her people, misguiding them into loyal soldiers?

Yes, all those questions are headcanon and I won’t deny that.

I doubt they will be explored in such detail, but it raises a lot of interesting questions.

@Pagan
I’ll elaborate then.
1: She reared them from birth. A birth that we can’t be certain of their parents, but also a birth where there was no other “adult” changeling present. She was free to imprint whatever view she wanted on them.

Interesting headcanon.

2: Lashing of tongues isn’t innate wickedness, or are all snakes simply wicked? Upon hatching, the babies are hungry, the tongue lashing is most likely the same as a snake in that it’s how they smell/taste “love” and encourages them to go towards it. What was different about Thorax? He was a coward. This cowardice lead to him to find the truth of his species, which is to gather love, but then freely share it.

That’s fine.

3: Thorax tells trixie and starlight that changelings are always hungry, because they take love that goes to someone else, they don’t receive it by someone liking THEM. once they get love going to THEM, they suddenly aren’t starving anymore, but what’s more, willfully sharing it triggers the final step of a metamorphosis.

That’s still fine except for the metamorphosis part.

4: Lets not forget that Thorax states that the hunger left him when he made friends with Spike, meaning a single true caring person will quell the hunger of a changeling.

Again this is fine.

5: Finally, we are able to SEE what the love extraction process looks like when Chrysalis starts to pull it out of Thorax, and we can see that the hatchlings Don’t do this to Chrysalis, so she herself wasn’t feeding them.

Again interesting headcanon but has no real merit towards the show as we never see or hear that she denies them to feed, in all likely hood she lets them have doses to ration out the love and make it last for them or she lets them feed using the extraction method which as you just said you believe that would prevent them from changing meaning they wouldn’t know about the change even being able to occur, and as we saw it takes a lot of love and she wasn’t full of it because she wasn’t overcharged like she was in her premiere so she wouldn’t be able to cause the change even if she knew about it.

Seriously headcanon is interesting and all but it doesn’t prove anything if you want to think Chrysalis is an evil abusive dictator fine but don’t try to play it off as a fact because there is no evidence to support it.
