“Reflux is… a questionable Alp. He’s kind and friendly, and he’ll certainly protect you. The only problem is that tail of his… Just take care of yourself, Mave, and stay on your wits, because one of these days, he won’t wait.”
Meet Maera, the mother of Mave, Syre and six other little Luachras. She has been a mother in two families, while her brother is the father of Reflux. She lives in Saddle Lake with most of the rest of her immediate family.
Maera is a very kind and supportive Alp, and is always there for her children. She loves watching them grow, but a deep sense of fear always cuts at the back of her mind; she has been the mother of eighteen children, but only eight of them live to this day. Taken by predators, a period of starvation and… fishermares. Maera was blinded in her left eye when she was caught on a fishing hook a few years ago. The hook punctured through her jaw and into her eye socket, taking one half of her vision and all of her sense of safety in the world around her.
While the children on Mave’s side of the family take after their father the most, Syre is turning out with the same softness in his heart as Maera.

Yes, let the Alp-luachra world continue to expand and branch out! Mwahahaha!
And write stories involving the personalities of these characters. Also, have an editor to help with it to ensure consistency.

… I’m a bit picky with my typos, as you’ve noted before.
You’re already on the way there with some of these Alp-luachras.
But yeah. I mean, other than supposedly being “lust-driven” and a tad of a creeper, there’s got to be much more to Reflux than that. There has to be more dimension to him other than kinda sorta being a rival of mine. :D
I can imagine good character-building scenes involving Mave showing her sweet side, or Reflux being considerate considerate or helpful to other creatures. But we shall leave it more largely to you ton determine how to expand the characters.
Also, I hope to see her dad some day too!

Well, I get the feeling that Reflux probably stalks her a lot, and is mostly concerned with having the S with her. So that’s +2 creepy points for him!

To debate, one should be passionate about the subject.
I get the feeling he’s been waiting for so long, there’d be a loooooot of passion in his speeches. To the point where Mave would either be really flattered… or really creeped out.
Yeah, when he’s in the mood, I bet he’d debate the hell out of any crowd!
It’d be like “Woah, watch that little guy go!”
Well neither is Reflux.

But if he was… I wonder what his voice would sound like, amplified by a microphone on a podium… and if his ears could even handle the feedback on the speakers.

And to summarize… Maera is a protective, motherly figure to Mave, and that’s how others see her too. She’s the pivotal figure in it all. Reflux wants to make babies with Mave, but Syre does as well - but in a more innocent way, like a little brother wanting to marry his sister because he loves her so much, aww~
If Maera falls out of the picture, then pretty much what will happen is that, with Mave having such good genes, everything will go into chaos in the small town of Saddle Lake. I see Mave’s family as being quite a pure bloodline. Not sure where that idea came from, but I’m all for keeping it all the same.
As for the father, he’s usually out collecting food and stuff. I’ll probably draw him next.
At the root, we are still talking about Mave. But it has somehow evolved into some kind of love triangle between her, her own cousin, and a certain brown pony (Wink wink, golly I’m bloody subtle). And also “is her cousin a gigantic prick or not”?
So far, me and the artist have established he’s really not.
