Looks that way. Isn’t this pretty much how DT has always been characterized in the comics and show? I do kinda wish she’d get a more than one note personality, but eh, it’s a kid’s comic and I am no ways the main demographic for it.

Guys, non-guys! We’re all forgetting one very important, even deciding, factor here: Diamond Tiara has chosen a side on this debate. Therefore, that side won’t win. She might not lose, exactly. Maybe she’ll be princess, but being princess sucks. Maybe it’ll turn out there’s some structure that’s older than both (Twilight’s former library, since the last preview page implies it doesn’t have to still be standing) and Apple Bloom won’t be princess either. But Diamond Tiara cannot win.

It’s also entirely possible that Filthy Rich or Diamond Tiara’s family in general whitewashed the local history to make it sound like they were the founders. Kinda like that episode of Gravity Falls at Pacifica Northwest’s mansion.
 
Sure WE know the true history, but for all we know, Filthy Rich has got the town convinced Granny Smith is senile.

“Suggests” is the key word here. And that’s only if we extrapolate on what we see here. It is equally likely that Diamond Tiara (assuming it is indeed her) is wrong.
 
The fact is, unless this comic does ends with Applejack actually being wrong, it does not contradict the show. And you can’t tell how this will end just from the preview. Therefore your comment about the writers fucking up was premature and comes off as whiny.

I wouldn’t say it “worked” in any capacity, but Twilight wasn’t the problem so much as the inconsistent logic of the Castle Rustler’s immunity and arrest.

Not really. The western arc worked just fine with Twilight’s presence.

So we have a comic where it would have been better if Twilight was written out but instead got caught up in a whole bunch of legal BS and now we have a comic where Twilight is written out but would work better if she got entangled in a whole mess of red tape. Ironic,no?

Well, I’m definitely skipping these next few comics.
 
Damn it, I wish the writers could give Diamond Tiara an actual character. Having her just be the mean, stuck-up b**** all the time got old four years ago. In a show with characters who are usually really fleshed out, having someone be so one-note is just frustrating.

If Sweet Apple Acres has always been as destruction prone as it is now, it’s completely possible the first structure built in Ponyville was destroyed early on and something that came after has been standing longer.

Does this imply that the structure itself doesn’t have to be standing anymore? With the current Apple homestead, the barn, having to be rebuilt several times in 4 seasons… I see no chance for the original building to be around anymore.
 
… And Ponyville was founded only after the Apples settled, even though they were the reason for it coming to be. And now they live on/beyond the outskirts of the village proper. I did not read the comics but it may indeed be a matter of debate whose building was the first to belong to Ponyville or to be erected in Ponyville.

If we assume that Diamond Tiara is the one objecting, it is probably going to be Stinkin’ Rich’s general store as the other “oldest” building.
 
Is that still even around? I guess we will find out what the cause for debate is in the rest of the issue.

I’m guessing it’ll be the old Theseus’ Ship / George Washington’s Axe discussion: is it still the original Sweet Apple Acres homestead after being rebuilt so many times?

This implies the original house that they built was long razed down, but the site still somewhere on SAA. (Perhaps as the farm grew they relocated the main barn + living areas to a more central location and tore down the house for more growth). Alternatively, as the town grew, what originally was the homestead was taken by the town but allowing the farm to grow out away from town center.

Wait, the “town’s first structure” isn’t some part of Sweet Apple Acres?
