I said blood and gore as in the two together. I could’ve worded that better so my bad. Blood on it’s own is dependent on the image. A character with bleeding cuts and injuries from a fight would be semi-grimdark. A character that has been killed or mortally wounded from say stabbing or shooting and is bleeding out on the floor would be grimdark. A character that has been killed and has had his insides spread across the floor would be grimdark and grotesque.

The general idea I have with grim-dark versus grotesque is that is a character’s been shot, stabbed, or slashes and there is blood but it isn’t a severe injury where their body is held together by bone and sinew then it’s grimdark. Another comparison might be, “If it’s blood you’d find on day-time TV then it’s grimdark”.
 
But if you have to watch Game of Thrones on HBO or if it’s in a slasher movie where guts are visibly being torn from the body then it’s grotesque.

I scolded him because he stated that an image would be rated explicit if it had blood in it, which is wrong. The explicit tag is for sex or nudity of a certain nature. It’s frustrating because a lot of people seem to think this is the correct thing to tag.
 
As for the correct criteria… there is none? If you’re asking if blood should be tagged as grotesque, I think it depends more of what it’s coming from than how much of it there is. If you read the definition of the grotesque tag, it states that the image should either be gory or its content should be horrific and disturbing in nature. I don’t think this kind of thing usually applies to just plain old blood.

Please, bear with me. You confirmed explicit (as in explicitly shown) blood is grotesque, right? However, a simple nosebleed doesn’t count even if explicit. Then Darth said the criteria is the amount, but you scolded him. So… what is the right criteria?
