That actually makes a lot more sense, especially now in DBS and Revival of F.
SSGSS isn’t actually as powerful SSG, who could nearly match Beerus in the anime, while Goku, Vegeta and Golden Frieza were still scared stiff of Beerus without SSG even during Revival of F. And like Sunset Phoenix 1.0, Sunset can achieve this form on her own just with a high degree of enlightenment.
Phoenix Sunset v2.0 is the GOD FORM–why? it takes exactly five ponies to channel their magic into Sunset, just like it took five saiyans to channel their spirits into Goku.
Phoenix Sunset v1.0 is like the Ascended Super Saiyan (known as Super Saiyan 2)–because that’s when Sunset Shimmer goes ‘past’ her magic form.
