  1. This picture is wonderful.

  2. How?

    I love America, my original comment was a fucking obvious joke not my fault you and Nutty get triggered at the smallest things. So take your insults elsewhere.

    You people act like this place is a fantasy paradise that has no flaws, despite those flaws however this is still a great place, learn to chill.

Yeah I like to actually look outside the confines of my room and see the world outside it sometimes and honestly I really don’t care about this subject at all also I don’t think everyone is as bad as they are here I just happen to live in a shithole full of terrible people so yeah #notallamericans and all that.

How about we just drop this and go our separate ways?

That wasn’t the stereotype being discussed.

Also, bacon has nothing to do with obesity. Obesity is caused by multiple factors interacting, mostly genetics interacting with the standard diets found in 90% of the Western world.

Because Black and Hispanic populations have not had the time that whites did to adapt to these sorts of diets, it’s not surprising that Black and Hispanic obesity rates are major drivers of the American obesity “epidemic,” and (because the US has a higher population of both than most developed countries) that the US would lead in obesity in part because of that. Here’s a very telling graphic on the issue.

Also keep in mind how obesity rates are calculated: BMI. BMI has (rightfully) come under fire for being massively inaccurate because it measure all weight as bad (or good, depending on which end you’re at). This leads to athletes being deemed “obese.” The US has a higher percentage of the population engaged in athletics (especially weight lifting, which is almost sure to lead to obesity based on BMI). Essentially, using BMI to estimate BFP in the US overestimates BFP (on average) and, elsewhere, it underestimates BFP (on average).

Even with all that in mind, the US likely does have a somewhat higher obesity rate than much of the rest of the developed world, but it doesn’t have to do with overindulgence. US grain consumption is much higher than in most developed countries. Add into that the fact that the US grain supply has been changing far faster than in other parts of the world, not to mention the prevalence of corn syrup in foods in the US, and that’s not good. Not only that, but because of the way that sugar addiction works, this would cause an increase in calorie consumption simply because of a lack of availability of the calories in fat cells. Sugar addiction causes people to be hungry more and more often, and the US leads the world in sugar addiction thanks to the higher grain consumption, prevalence of “low fat” diet foods and omnipresence of corn syrup.

But wait! There’s more! The Omega-3:Omega-6 ratio in the US diet is far worse than in many developed countries due to more factory farming, lower fish consumption (relative to SOME countries), etc.

These are some major factors, but there are others. The point is that it’s not a love of bacon that’s causing the US obesity rates to be so high.

So am I what makes your views any different than mine also it could just be the region you live in cause everyone I know is an idiot redneck with no sense of self preservation or respect.

Also ignorance doesn’t apply if I actually see it.

@Pagan

I’m an American and someone that actually knows the statistics on this and… no. Sorry to burst your ignorant bubble, but you’re the very problem that you see around you constantly.

That’s a stereotype. What if someone visited England, would that make their teeth horrid? No. Would visiting China give you smaller “assets” and make you instantly better at math? No. Does visiting Russia make me a vodka chugging bear? No
I am not an American, but stereotypes still make me cringe.
