In this context, PTSD kinda seem perversely funny a proposition.
And it seems like Shining’s character consists entirely of the contrast of those two sides: mighty knighty guardian and yet sweet natured nerd.

I… don’t think that was the joke at all. I’m pretty certain that the joke was that the man, who’s supposed to be the big tough guy, was the one who got all emotional. PTSD is pretty heavy for a kid’s show.
It seems to me that a lot of people didn’t get the joke in the episode. Imagine having a wedding day that suddenly went off the rails as badly as his did. He “cries at weddings” because he has PTSD.
@OverlordScorpion
Celestia doesn’t work cheap. Even if the wedding was between a princess and her student’s brother, who has put in years of service to the crown, doesn’t matter. She gotsta get paid.

Still worth.
Transformers Animated was meant for kids, but BOY, did it get dark sometimes. Ratchet’s backstory was only the beginning…
his could be quite frightening for the target demographic
Ahem… Transformers Animated. Ratchet. That is all.

And the groom. Who happens to be captain of her royal guard and her faithful student’s brother.
