He made changes based on contractors doing stupid shit (like walking in front of an air mover and getting shit in their eyes)
 
So he made us wear stupid glasses that destroyed peripheral vision and fogged up. I could never see clearly with them.
 
We’ve had guys do things that were far worse than what I did and they lied about it and they’re still there. I made a mistake (yes safety related but it was against his new “safety absolute” bullshit) and was fired on the spot. Then escorted off by a cop like a prisoner…
 
No. Worse than a prisoner. At least prisoners get a fair trial and at least one appeal before they’re executed. ;(

Yeah, completely different where I am. We’ve been following the same safety program for years and it’s paid off (in addition to the 15 years without a lost time accident we’ve gone 3 years without a OSHA recordable). Two key aspects of the program are the stop work authority each employee has (to stop a particular job, even if you are just an observer, due to safety concerns) and the loss/near loss reporting system. The new guy comes from the ‘get the job done regardless’ school and has placed himself in plenty of, at best, questionable situations. He finally snapped at me (younger then him but I’ve been at the plant over 3 years and am serving on the plant’s safety committee this year) when I asked if he had tagged out the airline he was working on. Went on and on about how nothing was going to happen, how in the future I should report any of his questionable actions because ‘I’m an adult…I’m OLDER than you’ and how he distrusts me. I told him he’ll have to keep on distrusting me and walked off to report the conversation to the plant manager. And two weeks later he causes an accident which 1) damn near killed him 2) caused half the plant to be shut down for 2 shifts and 3) in addition to the damaged pump resulted in the effective destruction of our aerial lift (due to corrosion by HCL fumes). Sad thing is the fucker is still employed, but he’s been sent back into training mode. Wish your situation ended better but it sounds like you worked for a really bad plant manager.

It’s not even that. The plant manager has gone apeshit on flavor of the month safety shit, all so he can say he’s done something. When in reality al it does is make it easier for him to fire people.
 
The plant manager is openly hostile to shift operations (That’s me) and gives the salary side everything.
 
He once said if he could he’d cut shift operators another 20% but won’t because OSHA said here needs to be a certain number to effectively respond to an emergency.
 
He does the bare minimum with personnel but goes overboard with rules and punishments and claims that that was the “safest” place to work. While also ignoring operatoe like me bringing up actual process safety issues because of “money” or in my case “I just haven’t been there long enough to complain”.
 
And I hope that OSHA nails him to the fucking wall. :(

It’s not just the young kids you need to worry about. Our new 2nd shift maintenance guy nearly got killed this past Monday because he refuses to buy into our plant’s (a hazardous waste treatment facility) safety program, and he’s in his fifties. Constantly thinks he knows better since he used to work at ‘the largest plant in the world.’ 15 years without a lost time accident almost ruined.

The trying but losing thing I can relate to. I’ve learned (as I’ve been treated) that trying your best isn’t good enough. If you didn’t win or succeed you lost or failed and the results are all that matters. Your image is tainted by that failure or loss and mistakes. And it’s the way I’ve seen many in the fandom see celestia. :(

Positive character development for Celestia:
 
-Interacting with the townsfolk at a tea party and showing herself to be “one of the mares”, as it were.
 
-Fighting Queen Chrysalis to protect her kingdom. She lost, but she tried.
 
-Repeatedly showing her care for her sister, from the moment she banished her to the moment she came back.
 
-Willingly giving up her power to make sure Twilight could defeat Tirek.
 
-Guiding Twilight on her path to Princessdom from a young age and being an awesome mentor.
 
-Having a silly squabble over a silly topic with Luna in order to show that she argues with her sibling just like everyone else. They quickly made up, as siblings do. Relateability! It’s a thing.
 
And that’s just off the top of my head.

And they lied to me. They told me if I resigned as opposed to be terminated for cause I could draw unemployment.
 
The unemployment center told my I was ineligible for benifits because I resigned. :(
