I could point you to multiple helmets that do not hinder hearing in any manner (and would only hinder upward vision, which most people don’t look up anyway) provided you have an arming cap with holes over the ears.

Seriously, it’s usually the lowest-tier armor, so the one you start at (or skip past, most times, as it’s usually not worth it) in a lot of games.
And does nothing at all to obscure any hypothetical senses - it’s just a cap.
Adds weight, sure, but he’s already got an option to wear stuff just short of plate-mail if you go heavy.
Besides, they also got Quen anyways. So if they absolutely had to they could call on a magical shield at a moment’s notice to protect them from anything.
Witchers never, ever wear helmets. They rely on their superhuman senses and reflexes to keep out of harm’s way. Putting a helmet on a witcher would reduce his chances of survival by cutting off some of his hearing and a good chunk of his field of vision.

Plate armor is useless anyways when ekimmaras will go through them like butter
good on them for having the mail go the proper way…
bad on them for somehow making the first design of platemail I’ve ever fucking seen. it takes all of the weaknesses of plate armor and combines it with all of the weaknesses of mail armor and REMOVES their strengths!
also, no helmet in a combat situation. points come off for that as well. hell, a top hat would be more protective than just hair!
