We all came to this village because we were searching for something missing from our lives. Now, it seems it was in front of us all along. Its us.

Background Pony #64E9
  1. magical talking horses with a male/female population ratio drastically different than the two closest comparable real-world species (humans and horse). Please explain which of the alternatives (majority single ponies, majority polyamorous ponies) is more reasonable than majority bisexual ponies, and give a proof. One more solid than “comparison to species which is drastically different in demographic ratio”.

    and the more basic point
  2. the hell does “default” have to do with anything? Let’s assume ponies have the same homosexual/bisexual/heterosexual ratios as reported in humans (even ignoring the very heavy cultural bias involved in currently available statistics) - then it’s still… pretty unremarkable for a given random pony to be non-heterosexual, making “heterosexual is more common that ship is nonsense” complaint still pretty silly.

@G.S.
“well, biology” would also be compatible with people being bisexual, and the point there is a drastic population difference between male and female ponies is oft-pointed out. That would imply that either a majority of ponies are single, a majority of ponies are lesbian or bisexual, or polyamory is a major thing amongst them. It’s anyone’s guess which is most reasonable.

The difference is that someone is (I assume jokingly or trollingly) unquestioningly attributing a sexuality to a character whose sexuality is not in the least hinted at.
The shipping fandom, as a whole, only assumes that ponies are whatever sexuality happens to be convenient for their preferred ship - it has nothing to do with “all ponies are straight by default!” or “all ponies are gay by default!”.

Get brains, y’silly goosers.
