Well, if argon did bond with anything, the resulting compound would make nitroglycerin look stable by comparison. Noble gasses are perfectly fine by themselves, but really terrible if you try to force them together with other things. That’s kind of how that scene went - she had to make a huge effort to make connections with those animals, then exploded (metaphorically) when those connections were broken up.
