Well, I could see that too. The Spartans would most likely disappear before they got a chance to catch ‘em though. And I wouldn’t be surprised if all Spartans left uncorrupted.
The under suit part of Spartan armor is completly formed to the body, And the armor variations only goes down to the type of plating. Their armor makes them ’round 7feet tall, and allows them to destroy 43 ton tank by punching it. It also enhances all of their physical capabilities making them faster, more agile, and give them quicker reaction timing down to a tenth of a second.

The greater threat would take priority. However, having a common foe does not absolve them of their heresies in the eyes of the Imperium. And it’s not as simple as ‘chaos is a bigger threat, therefore we don’t worry about the Spartans till later’. It’s more a case of ‘which threat should we deal with immediately?’. If it was, say, all happening on the same battlefield (or planet/star system), then chances are, the chaos forces would be the priority target. But in the grand scheme of things, they are both threats that need to be delt with in the views of the Imperium.
As for their armor being as strong as an Astarte’s power armor, that’s debatable. Considering the sheer mass of an Astarte’s armor (remember, the average height for an Astartes out of armor is between 8 and 9 feet), and how form-fitting a Spartan’s armor is, I can’t really see them being equal. The shielding would help, but then again some Astartes commanders make uses of shields as well. And keep in mind there are several different grades of Astartes power armor. From the different Marks of the standard power armor, to the lighter scout armor, the hand-crafted artificer armor, up to the massive Terminator armor, which is effectively a wearable tank.

Don’t worry I’m the Halo nerd:
The Spartans are technically atheist because they were kidnapped at the age of six, trained on hard core standards, and then physically modified (going against laws of mortal dictata, meaning cloning and the modification of humans is a life sentence), in short: what Spartan IIs are break a lot of rules, and were made to crush human rebellion. The reason they’re used against the covenant is when Spartan Jai-006 engaged an elite and won (she’s the reason why Spartans are considered daemons to the covies). Then there are the IIIs (who were made for the covenant) and IVs (Who are the permanent Spartan branch). Pretty much they were made with the concept of producing the legendary Greek Spartans, and succeeding entirely. Their armor is Is linked to them through a neural implant, and there armor strength compared to that of a space Marine’s. Their armor has shielding (which was backward engineered off covenant shields), and has atmosphere penetration capability (at least the current mk. VI does).
Seeing all that you put, I can see why. but if they were engaging in combat then saw chaos, do you think they continue fighting each other? Or purging the chaos. Or if it was the salamander chapter specifically: if they both heard a civilian in trouble, they’d probably think protect the civilian. At least that’s what the Spartan think.
@C Money
Quite a lot, depending on how deep you want to dig. Firstly (and most importantly to many int he Imperium), they do not follow Imperial Doctrine. This alone is enough to brand them, at best, apostates that must be brought into the light. At worse, willfull heretics that must be purged for their own good and the safety of all imperial citizens.
Secondly, and I’ve never actually played the Halo games, so I’m guessing with this one, the Spartans come from a society that’s at best atheistic, and at worst, christian. To the Imperium, this would be them worshiping false gods, or following heretical ideology, which again, would brand them as heretics.
Thirdly, I doubt that the weapons, armor, vehicles, and other such technologies the Spartans use is approved and sanctioned by the Adeptus Mechanicus. Not only that, but they demonstrate a willful eagerness to use alien technology without any consideration to the dangers of doing so. This is considered blasphemous to the Omnisia, which is the Emperor personified as the Machine God. This, again, is enough on it’s own to brand them as heretics.
Lastly, you said that the Spartans were genetically enhanced. Human gentic modifications within the Imperium is strictly controlled and regulated. Depending on the process used, it may even be seen as an unsanctioned attempt to emulate the creation of an Astartes, which is the highest form of tech-heresy. Entire worlds have been rendered uninhabitable for the crime of a lone scientist attempting to recreate the Emperor’s work of creating the Adeptus Astartes.
There’s probably several more smaller reasons why the Imperium would consider the Spartans heretics, or at least an unenlightened population that must be brought to the truth by any means needed, but those are the four big ones.
So at best, the ‘earth’ the Spartans come from at best could hope to be brought into the Imperium, though their Spartan soldiers would be exterminated as unneeded in place of raising a new regiment of Imperial Guard, and the support of any nearby Astartes chapter.
And yes, I am a huge nerd when it comes to all things 40K.
@C Money
Actually, Imperial Doctrine would consider them heretics. Which means, by decree, they are to be purged right along with other chaos and xenos filth.
@Solitude
Yeah, instead imagine the reality: there bough genetically modified humans. They’do join forces, and KILL ’EM ALL! PURGE THE EVIL THAT IS CHAOS!
@C Money
The Astartes fight daemon.
Let me state that again. They have to fight physical manifestations of entities so old and powerful, they literally melt brains simply by being in the room. And they do this daily. Across tens of thousands of worlds. This is on top of also doing basically everything you do. Daily.
Oh, and if we want to put this into perspective, the Astartes aren’t even the most badass thing out of 40K. They’re simply the benchmark.
@Solitude
When you have access to use the enemy’s equipment such as Active camo devices, indestructible hard light shielding, holograms, energy swords, sentries, etc. then I feel pretty safe.
ALSO: Blood Angels FTW.
