no i meant seeing a romantic pair in a different light (twilight and spike pairing falls under ‘subordinate excuse’). in this case depending on your view (owner-pet,brother-sister,surrogate mom-son) it might throw off people who pair the two with the assistant-boss relationship upgrade route.
 
a retroactive example would be luke and leia shippers being weirded out when they learn they’re actual siblings. all the shipping moments in the previous films look squicky now (unless you don’t mind incest).
