The fact Luna can still take NMM’s form means if Luna were to become evil on her own she will be Luna with NMM’s body.
 
I don’t like to think NMM is different from Luna. Luna was Nightmare Moon, Luna was evil and now she is good. If Luna & NMM were different ponies then that will make Luna boring.

Well, i Reckon that luna was jealous and angry at tia, but the armour was possessed and that gave her the NMM form, but the spirit took ahold of luna’s anger and shut her in her own body, and the elements destroyed the armour, and therefore NMM, but then again, this might make no logical sense.

Well, not so much the possession part (like, evil magic or something. Lauren was purposely vague on that), but it’s been established by Lauren that Luna and Nightmare are two different ponies for the most part.

This shows that canon wise there is no evil spell or possession making Luna evil and that it IS infact Luna.  
Sadly, it doesn’t stop people from still claiming that she was possessed and that NMM is seperate from Luna.

Yeah, and it wasn’t easy either. I had to take bits and pieces from other cards, and color shift them.
