Merriweather wrote good episodes in Spongebob and Adventure Time, its just that she sucks writing episodes in MLP (except for Wonderbolts Academy). Putting stereotypes in a tv show that’s trying to avoid them, no problem. Teaming up with a writer who likes basterdizing characters, that’s always easy. Hell, putting the blame on the wrong characters, classic. As for Fullerton, the only good episode she written was Suited for success.

My point in Fullerton and Merriweather is that they suck ass in writing good stories. Fullerton’s episodes contain unnecessary cruelty, unexplained reasons for the sake of unexplained reasons, makes likable characters unlikable and filler that goes nowhere. As for Merriweather, she places all the blame on other characters and breaks the rules that the show is trying to maintain. She created Dragon Quest (that episode is worse than Putting Your Hoof Down), in that episode, she made the characters act like stereotypes and put in material that is never explained. If you want to see that episode done right, either watch Dipper vs manliness from Gravity Falls or Us from The Walking Dead. My conclusion: Merriweather and Fullerton cannot write or make good episodes.

Ok. I’m not against you defending Fluttershy’s bad behavior. I just don’t get why you can like an attitude of a character that is not what that character is supposed to be. Let me pull two examples from my hat: Tyreese and Ren Hoek. While Tyreese wasn’t well written in the show nor did he have the same likability as the one in the comics, he was still a good character unlike T-Dog. In his death episode What happened and what’s going on, he was a complete idiot for letting Noah run to his home and allowing Noah’s zombified brother bite him on the arm. Tyreese always sees things coming from a mile away and can act fast once a crisis occurs. But in the episode, he became as stupid as T-Dog and allowed himself to die, he didn’t even look for a sharp object to amputate his damn arm, nor did Noah. As for Ren, he wasn’t a perfect character and he always got the consequences for when he became a monster. When John K and Spike Tv rebirthed Ren and Stimpy as an adult cartoon, they turned Ren into a satanic fiend. He murdered animals, tried to seduce naked women, maul Stimpy even worse than the original and worse of all, he gets no consequences for his actions. When I saw Putting your hoof down, it reminded me of APC Ren, a character who has a trait that doesn’t belong to them. Thanks a lot Merriweather and Fullerton.
 
Speaking of Fullerton and Merriweather, I do respect them as human beings. They aren’t as horrifying as Casey Alexander or Zeus Cervas (except in Sand castles in the sand) but its their writing I don’t like. They have a destinct style that does almost EVERYTHING wrong. That’s the main reason why people like me and MrEnter hate them. I respect them as humans, but I hate them as writers.

She was? How? What was she exemplifying? Her initial doormat attitude? Meekness, which she does have, can be considered a virtue but it can be flipped on its head to mean spineless, see the first half of the episode. And even then, how was she incorruptible? With the advice given to her, that would normally just make any normal pony just a jerk, she took it and went full steam ahead. Unless you meant pure of mind, free of distractions dedicated to “improving” on her advice.
 
And that’s the thing, when compared to Rarity’s charm tactics and Pinkie’s dialogue tactics (which she failed due to her being anti-social) with Iron Will’s aggression tactics had worked and she was truly dedicated to getting to a point where she wanted to be as social as Pinkie and Rarity. The problem is the that not only was the advice counterproductive, somehow she was going down the slippery slope. And with what I had said here: @drumpowa and with what @Background Pony #2957 said we felt it came from a real place especially since it’s canon that she’s distraught emotionally.

An important distinction to note is that “reasons with others” and “doesn’t back down” should only apply to her friends, the CMC or animals, essentially those whom she has a personal connection to. Her peers on the outside? This doesn’t apply; she essentially becomes pilot FS when we were first introduced to her. And any development after PYHD doesn’t count within the context of our argument, obviously.
 
Other points to note: alot of her mean actions were aided by Iron Will’s quips. Her verbal assault had no quips, just confrontation and scathing remarks which I would use to support my “it’s her honest opinion, but tweaked to destroy them.” And with the bridge incident: I don’t think people realize that when you’re taught to be a jerk, their reasons are in their own logic and they’re only to benefit the self, regardless of what conditions that would avoid confrontation, which again she’s using Iron will’s aggression tactics using confrontation to her advantage rather than what she would usually do which is avoid confrontation. Even if she had a right to be upset.
 

 
No, this isn’t how Fluttershy is supposed to act. I doubt anyone would want her to stay like this, but I realize is that this aspect of her in some shape or form is her shadow. Something that she keeps repressed. This is why I personally defend Flutterbitch, not because of her being rude but because I get see “the shadow” to “the self”; it adds another layer to an already 3D charcter (even if she is my least favorite character).
 
As for not forgiving Fullerton or Merriweather: I’m not telling you to forgive them; I’m saying that they are humans so respect them as such even when you see their flaws because all they did was make episodes you didn’t like. This is especially true for for MW since she’s a veteran writer having written great Spongebob and Adventure Time episodes before ponies.

In the episode she was. She insulted her friends, threw a guy at a bell tower, beated up not 1 but 3 ponies (2 of them deserved it now that I think about it) and kicked two karts at Bon Bon and another pony when she clearly has fucking wings. This isn’t how Fluttershy is supposed to act. She reasons with others and sometimes doesn’t back when danger is afoot.
 

 
No. No I did not. This use to be the worst episode i’ve seen from the show until I saw Dragon Quest and Rainbow Falls. The only character I like in the episode is Iron Will because he’s like a MLP version of Mr T. The episode has some other positives but the episode is more bad than good. While its not as horrible as A fistful of Meg, One course meal, Stimpy’s Pregnant, Adventure mouse, Rainbow Falls or the pilot to Littlest Pet Shop the episode bastardizes Fluttershy throughout almost the entire episode. I would forgive Fullerton and Merriweather but if their bad episodes didn’t exist then I would let it slide.

I’ve always hated her from the start. I couldn’t believe what Fullerton and Merriweather did to this character. I don’t hate Fluttershy. She’s kind, caring, compassionate and is good at cheering people up when they’re sad. It’s her “New” form I don’t like. Putting your hoof down may not be the worst episode of the show but like Ren Seeks Help, it bastardizes an established character.

I respect your opinion. I use to like her but when the later Mario games came out, she was on the cheating chart like Toad is and she developed a bitchy attitude whenever she didn’t win. That’s why I now hate her.

I know. Its Charlotte Fullerton and Merriweather’s fault for doing this to her. They’re the ones to blame. I’m more angry what they did to her character than the idea they came up with this. I deeply apologize for the comments I posted. Its just that…I hate Flutterbitch…A LOT. Flutterbitch angers me more than any other fictional character that has mad me angry. I hate her more than The Biskit twins, TK, Diamond Tiara, Nina Cortex, Toad, T-Dog, Sway Sway, Flash Sentry, Porky Mintch, Jasper Batts Jr, Mr. Pickles the satanic dog, Beduce, APC Ren Hoek, Count Vegier, The Riddler, Carlito Keyes, Citra, Gareth and the rest of Terminus, any character Pamela Anderson plays in, Andrea(TV), Princess Daisy, Omichao, Tipi and any other hated character in any franchise. She angers me a lot more than the characters I had mentioned, the fact that a sweet angelic character like Fluttershy would become a horrible monster like this makes me want to hurt that character to make her stop (Which is the reason I put those nasty comments) You can make an argument that it was Iron Will’s fault, but it wasn’t. Fluttershy went too far and became much like her own version of The Governor from the walking dead. I’m not asking for forgiveness, I just wanted to give the reason why I put those comments.
