A sudden figure ahead of her made her jerk her head up.
“What are you doing, Derpy?”
Derpy cocked her head. “D-Docter?” She ducked her head, hoping he wouldn’t notice her watery eyes. “H-How’d you find me?”
Doctor Whooves moved closer and held the umbrella he carried over her. “It’s not science. I followed your hoofprints.”
Derpy glanced back, realizing her mistake. She should have flown.
“Now tell me what’s wrong. I can see you’re crying.”
Derpy didn’t look at him. “It… It was that older pony… The older mare… She…” Derpy sniffed. “She said I didn’t belong… b-because of my eyes…”
“Hey,” the doctor soothed, “she just doesn’t know the real you. She dosen’t understand that you’re special, unigue. Everypony needs something to make them stand out. And you have your beautiful eyes.”
Derpy,s ears perked as she looked up suddenly, her cheeks turning pink. “Did… Did you… just say my eyes were… b-beautiful?”
The doctor blushed as he stumbled over his own words. “Uh, I mean… What I mean is, um… Your eyes are, uh…”
Derpy giggled, and wiped her eyes, her tears now gone. “Thanks, Doctor.” As she leaned against him, the doctor felt his heart flip. “Uh… Y-You’re welcome.”
