And with you 100% on Trenderhoof. When a guy completely ignores you and starts stalking one of your friends, he is no longer a valid romantic prospect, and you’ll feel better after talking to somepony, preferably the police.
 
But yeah, you summed it up better than I did. In fact, I think she might only be after a boyfriend at all for shallow reasons. She seems mainly interested in finding a guy with display value, rather than an emotional connection, which suggests to me, if I’m right about this, that she’s far less mature and sophisticated than she thinks she is.

Rarity seems to prefer men with wealth, power, fame and/or status. She’s the “social climber” sort. Sweetie Belle has probably noticed this… So why would she try to set Rarity up with a guy who can be mistaken for somepony else’s property?
 
Your point are taken, Sweetie could probably handle a potion (with some help), and she can definitely be couned on to have a conscience.

Well, she doesn’t mind Spike’s company, and wants Rarity to be happy. Truth be told, Spike’s the only male in Rarity’s life ‘consistently’, why wouldn’t she think they’d be good together?
 
As for a repel-spell, I meant it as more of a potion they make Spike and Harshwhinny drink to keep them apart at all times. Being devious is one thing, but she also needs to contend with the act of actively ruining the life of another pony through physical involvement, which would be exceptionally hard to remain devious about.

She’s barely starting to get the hang of her magic. There’s no way she could pull that off reliably.
 
Anything Sweetie Belle could do to Miss Harshwhinny would have to be something done simply and sneakily in the dark of the night. Unfortunately for Miss Harshwhinny, Sweetie Belle can be very devious and creative when she’s got a score to settle, so this hardly limits the options.
 
On the other hand, what make you so sure Sweetie Belle would want Spike and Rarity together?
