a plot device should not become plot convenience. and that is what i am detecting here. having them have seperate kingdoms and such does not equal them suddenly becoming vulnerable to weak magic.

I think you are a bit overreacting about this. I mean this comic is after all about an anthro Nudist Sweetie Bell where the princesses are actual queens, Luna and Chrysalis have their own kingdom in the Everfree, and many more AU stuff that doesn’t fit in with the actual canon of the show. Just let the villain powers slide as plotdevice for this AU tumblrverse.
The explanation with the alicorn amulet and bewitched clothing should be enough. Even if it is pretty silly. But Somescrub said this is a mostly just for fun blog. So no need for drama.
(Even if the actual story arc is beyond just for fun by now imo.)
not to mention that the alicorn amulet is poorly dubbed as it seems at most trixie, while wearing it, seemed to be somewhat weaker than twilight as she is now. an tiwlight would stand no chance against a regal sister.
so in other words the magic would STILL not allow any influence upon the regal sisters at all.
i would have to cry bullshit there.
the problem with that idea is that a weaker spell would not affect the regal sisters, twilight, and discord would just be outright immune to that magic period. and the alicorn amulet would not make her strong enough to subjugate the regal sisters either if discord could not affect them.
levels of magic seem to breed certain levels of immunity to magic. else discord could have simply disabled the regal sisters. not to mention they would sense their powers being drained to begin with. that and considering luna’s abilities she could probably detect another conciousness in rarity.
not to mention that the amulet itself has its own conciousness. it influences its host. however it seems to be designed for ponies. meaning it would probably reject zebra magic entirely because they are incompatible.
there is quite some thought put intlo it, i iwll not lie, and much of it is clever, but it treats the regal sisters just as ponies when clearly theri alicornhood and magical levels give them an edge. i would probably say the amulet, even if it worked, could at least allow her to match celestia or luna, but far from match either of them. let alone discord.
