Hey, didn’t that season five preview have ponies with odd cutie marks? Could be that the season is about someone messing with cutie marks.
 
Also, cutie marks are generated by a pony’s internal magic. Take away the magic, and the mark fades. Take that as you will.

How many constant “friendly reminders” before we finally wake up?

Cutie Mark Magic. Rainbow Power.  
New Toyline, new season, connections. Was making them ever since the Pony Wedding toyline.

Those are powered by their will. So, using Rainbow Power in the made-up scenario above would drain the magic necessary to sustain their cutie marks. In the scenario I have here, I was imagining Cutie Mark Magic is powered by friendships between ponies besides themselves, meaning the equal mark town, and likely, whoever happens to be around. I’d imagine telepathy could be used when friends in close proximity are depleted, and thankfully, it will not likely take five episodes to charge a Spirit Bomb. XD

Jeeze. The villains should stop trying to take over and set their goal to “Nuking Equestria”.

I truly wonder what they think to cook up with this new gimmick.
 
A part of me thinks it’s some kind of Super Mode that unlocks new fantastic abilities they could probably survive without.
